you wouldn't buy any merch just because of a little logo.....wow....a bit precious?

I don't know what your taste in style/fashion is, but why would I spend my hard earned money on something that I don't like, or I don't think looks good?

Before you go "it supports the team/club financially blah blah", I am a member and a donator to the club.

Anything is better than our current logo.

I won't buy any new merchandise with it on it.

If I wanted something with the southern cross on it, I'd get a "f... Off we're full" bumper sticker to put on the bogan ute that I don't have.

Sadly things in society change over time, and the southern cross is more representative of small mindedness disguised as patriotism, than honor of the great country we live in and the constellation that sits above us.

I dont like it either but I'd put up with it if it was aesthetically pleasing. When you see the logo on products in the shops next to other clubs merchandise it just looks horrible and I can't imagine too many kids being drawn to it or wanting to wear it around. They want an emblem with a mascot on their merchandise and frankly so do I.

It looks terrible on merchandise - no way I'd buy clothing with that plastered all over it. I'd definitely buy the retro stuff and have bought several items with the retro logo on it but the new logo just looks horrible on merchandise. It looks fine on a letterhead but on a tshirt or school bag/pencil case etc it's terrible

Ive seen a posting of Demonshop on Facebook just now & I like that retro mix logo. Most people like that retro Demon I find.

I also like the new one with the representation of all the aspects that made our club.

Well done MFC, Iike it.

The coats ect look trendy if you ask me.

I tend to agree - I avoid the merchandise that has the 'official' logo on it.

I've bought plenty of the retro and monogram gear but the southercross, football, trident, flame, rules, shield, mongramed one is a little bit cluttered IMHO.

Good point Mac 7.

Overall I agree with Song though, when I see the southern cross I now think of parochialism.

Fortunately I don't think it features too prominently on our current logo.

The team is called the Demons. The point of Checker Hughes changing the name from fuscias to Demons was to get the players to play like Demons. Lets see a ferocious Demon on the away and clash jumpers instead of the logo of a cricket club. Even if it is the Melbourne Cricket Club but with an F for Football. The Doggies had a great logo of an attacking bulldog on their guernseys. It looked great. Lets get something like that but a Demon that shows the original intent of the style of play.

As for the logo. I have no problem with either. One is a throw back to the Cricket Club but is fine. Reminds me of the New York Yankees. Maybe that was Bartlett's reference to them. I'm not so sure we have to align our image so entirely to the MCC. The other was an intelligent reference to the Club's history. I refuse to allow a few bogans to hijack my appreciation of the Southern Cross as a symbol of where we are geographically and our historical larrikin fight for freedom against institutional oppression. I'm very happy to have it on our logo.

That is not 'the old logo' - it is still the logo, the are using the MFC overlap for reasons raised on here - it is hard to make the logo/emblem look good on the jumper, some merch and promotional tools.

Bartlett has already said that there was a great deal of support for the emblem. I like it, I don't have as much of a problem with a constellation as TSFKA does, and it is busy and arrogant because that is the history of this club.

By all means create other logos and use them as required - it really is a nothing issue we constantly harp about.

There was heavy market research done by the club in the off-season WRT the changing of our logo.

I attended a session and won't/can't say any more because they asked us not to, but it looks like times are changing.

I'd think the end of this season is more likely, because the club would have had their strategy for the coming season down pat a year ago.

I doubt that anyone with a tat like that would be posting on Demonland (or anywhere else for that matter)... they're probably still trying to figure out the screen unlock password on the PC they "found".

Sweet, so wait until next year to buy a new jumper, got it.

So when does the new logo come out? I heard PJ talk about a club re branding at one stage. That surely must mean Cameron Schwab's Photoshop acid nightmare come to life is due for the chop?

Posted

I imagine that seeing as though talk of a new brand and logo didn't surface until after last season, 2015 was always going to incorporate the current look.

Coming up with a brand and logo isn't just something you get Bob the intern to do in photoshop. I'm certain the club wants to distance itself from that logo because it represents one of the club's most turbulent times. I don't mind the logo but I think we need something simpler.

It'll be interesting to see what they come up with. Will they follow most other clubs and use a Demon? Or base it around the MFC monogram? Any third possibilities?

found this on a us site

Looks like an U5's version. A baby Demon. I'm sure they would like it.
