Very conflicted like many on here. Just a terrific young bloke with a decent head on his shoulders and has faced up to everything manfully.

I'm sorry, but I really don't get all the hand wringing over this.

If we need to keep a player who has been loyal to us but 5 years into his career couldn't get a game in a team that finished 15th we've got massive cultural issues. Leadership and culture need to come from the coaches and CEO given the age profile of our list, and one of the ways you instill values in young people with short careers is to remind them that performance is crucial. If you play well it creates a winning culture.

I reckon Jack Trengrove is a ripping bloke, but it's not going to stop me from wanting a better club to support and the development of a new, optimistic winning culture at my footy club.

Yes, and remember Richmond came to us. Our club has to improve so unpopular decisions have to be made

Trading up until 2pm Thursday. Although since there are ulterior motives involved you would think that deal would go through in the next 24-48 hours

What if Lever becomes a star of the game?

History will judge this trade if it eventuates, we won't know the sum of it and all we will be doing is what we are doing in this thread - baring our neurosis concerning an aspect of the game we get all too often wrong.

The problem is we don't know Lever will be there at that pick so I wouldn't think it the reason for the trade.

Was shaping as a number 1 pick from last year. Could be a bit like Dyson Heppell in terms of injury ridden, but still a jet

Watch his highlights video pre-injury and it shows why we want to do this. The way he flys in the air and attacks the contest on the ground reminds me of Fyfe.

With GWS making big plays for players is it possible we are trying to maneuver for a Sheil or Greene?

I don't buy in to rumours but the one in this thread I actually tend to believe.

Greene or Sheil would be an upgrade on Trenners (as much as I like Jack both those 2 have more upside)

Not a bad trade but I'm not sure I'd be totally happy with 3 and 12 for Beams. Just me.

With you on that - this would be a really bad move

If in fact you are considering it don't do it Dees - the Pies are looking for a sucker with high draft picks

Beams has continually stated he wants to be traded so he can live near his dad in Qld

If we sign him up to what will be a huge long term contract, we will have to worry about him asking for a trade to Brisbane at the end of every season

I want stability at the MFC not highly paid players who are a flight risk each trade period, like Beams would be

Don't get sucked in by the media or spin from Collingwood.

Unless of course you know him personally and aren't basing your opinion on what you've heard in the media..

I'd take Adelaide pick 10 in exchange for Trengove because it will effectively become pick 9 with Collingwood taking Moore

So there would be a really good chance to get the tall they want at pick 9, such as Lever or any other talls that typically slip down the order a bit.

On further thought, take a quality tall a pick 2 or 3 and then grab another midfielder at 9

Also, there is another tall that the Dees might be keen on at pick 9 other than Lever but I'm reluctant to say.

Too many "what if's" about this trade. Stuff Pick 12. On medical advice & if Trengove is on track to do a full pre season we should keep him. Up until he got that dodgy suspension for that sling tackle he was playing some great football. Injury free he would be a real big bonus for us next season.

Depends on the country you're in Redleg.

Here in Australia it will be Thursday @ 2 pm AESDST.

If it played out something like this, I'd have no complaints at all:

- Trengove and 23 for 12 and 30-odd from Tiges.

- 3 and 12 + steak knives (Blease etc) for Beams and Lumumba

- Clark to Geelong for their second rounder + Taylor Hunt

- Frost in the PSD

- Use pick two on Brayshaw.

Granted, none of that will likely happen, but it's a reasonable hypothetical.

In total, it would be:

Out: Clark, Frawley, Trenners, Pick 23, Pick 12, pick 69 or whatever it was for Garlett, and Pick 3

In: Brayshaw (p2), Beams, Lamumba, Garlett, Frost, Hunt and Richmond + Geelong's second rounders.

Would take that in a heartbeat

2 Scenarios to play out here.

1. We don't trade Jack, and draft Brayshaw and Petracca at 2,3.

2. We do trade Trengrove, to Adelaide, bundled with pick 2 and 23 for danger. Then get we beams in with pick 3 and Watts.

But JT has said he would prefer to stay in Melbourne, despite his family living in Adelaide.

Doubt that you would have to twist his arm too much but I could be wrong.

Hard to no whether him saying that might just be a negotiating tactic? So much subterfuge going on it's ridiculous.

I trust Roos and co, but if it eventuates that we replace three best 22 players (two of which are in our top 10) with three speculative 18 year olds, I would understand the potential backlash.

Especially after Roos has emphasised the need for experienced, skilled midfielders. I am nearly positive that we have something up our sleeve, but it will be quite a let-down if nothing comes of it.

Petracca/Brayshaw/McCartin could all become stars in their own right, but we really do need some instant impact.

Just because we failed at the draft in the past doesn't mean we will now!! BP has gone, a whole new admin & coaching dept. Also a new recruiter.

Its now a great to look at top end talent from the draft & back ourselves in with all these new fresh people. We need more talented kids, we haven't got much.

As for Trengove, I'd get the best in a trade for him in a heartbeat, as I would Watts. Both mentally scarred & the club needs to move on from this era of weakness in the mind. Its not entirely their fault, but we will get better quicker if we don't have relapses.

Won't happen, he's scared of heights and won't go near the 10m platform.

We have to separate the idea of what we hope jack could become to what he's actually delivering.

This is it. And it has applied to a lot of players for a long time. The attitude has to be broken.

Luckily it's not up to the supporters, else we'd be hoarding all our spuds in the hope that they'll be good one day.

Trying to separate the fact we didn't get to see him play a season under Roos is what I'm finding difficult.

Those that are all too ready to write him off as underperforming need to remember he didn't even have an opportunity last season due to injury.

We know he can play the game and is only 23 years old. What's to say that he won't overcome his foot related injuries and become a great player after a couple of consistent years?

Roos must seriously believe he's limited or the roles within the team structure are well covered without the need for Trenners.
