I'd take Giles over Leuey, he's more agile and hits the pack harder and less injury prone.

Not to mention will come at a lower cost. Not being able to break into a side and demanding a trade decreases his currency.. I could potentially see a fair package deal that could see us land both Frost and Giles.

Frost, Giles and Shiel for pick 3 and ~40 and Blease

Blease & Giles both aren't getting games at their respective clubs.. Therefore this should be seen as a straight swap. Personally I believe Shiel is worth pick 3 alone, however if GWS were to trade Shiel it would be in order to draft Petracca, and with us holding pick 2 and Saints pick 1 he won't fall to them.

Yeah im pretty convinced we wont be targeting the names everyone says we are. Tyson and Vince came from nowherr and I expect Roos has a similar strategy this year. North have quite a few quality players who arent getting a game.

Back on topic though, I wouldnt mind getting Giles and fazing out poor Russian

It will if we trade pick 2 instead of 3. I would be happy if we ended up with Sheil and Brayshaw!

Pick 3 and Toumpas for Dangerfield.

Tappy/Strauss to anyone for 4th rounder.

Pick 2, 20 & 4th rounder for Shiel, Giles and Frost.

Clark trade for Lamumba.

Robinson trade for Blease.

3rd rounder F/S for Stretch.

Gwilt, ROK and/or Clint Jones as DFA.

Seems like a good off season to me.

(will stop day dreaming now)

I don't want to predict what we should or shouldn't trade for Giles, but I certainly think that he is the type of person we need, Has showed he can play at the level, but struggles for opportunities with Sandilands and Clarke in front of him.

Huh? He's from GWS.

Don't mind your scenario generally with the exception of Toumpas. I feel that both Toumpas and Trengove [who many here want to trade] should be retained at least until the end of next year as i suspect that both will wnd up long term gun players for the MFC under Roos. Apart from GWS how many other Clubs have their members clambering to trade off thier No. 2 and No. 3 draft picks?

Shiel will be back in Vic next year one way or another. GWS have the ability to get something for him this season, as he has 1Yr of contract to go.

If the Saints use P-1 on Petracca or other, We have the ability to negotiate with Shiel & GWS, for Shiel & extras. IF the saints trade P-1 to GWS were up the ditch..

I'm very keen to get both Shiel & Jaksch into red & blue... as they are both definately coming back home to Vic in the next 12 months, P-3 + something, to get them both over the line.

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int

    POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood

The Dees played insipid, error riddled & uninspiring footy all night and in a lightning delayed match they eventually succumbed to Collingwood by 46 points at the MCG in the final game of the year. Thank God this season is finally over. Bring on 2025.
