Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]

we should leak to the media that we are taking McCartin at pick 2

this might sway Saints to abandon a deal with GWS and to keep pick 1 and take him, meaning we get Petracca and Brayshaw

Will also push up the price of what the Dogs are willing to pay to get McCartin

For once the MFC hold all the cards, and whatever happens we should come out of it with a huge talent boost for the list

Maybe we want McCartin?

Which is why we have leaked that we'll probably take Brayshaw..?

Would be one hell of a misdirection given Roos got both Brayshaw and Stretch to train with us earlier this year, and has been sighted at team huddles mentoring Brayshaw throughout the year.

The AFL assign the AIS kids where they go. Clubs have no say in it.

Im very very confident Roos will take Brayshaw. Apparently a big fan of his.

Surely it will be Jason Taylor that makes the call, not Roos.

Saints would be foolish to assume what the MFC will do with picks 2 or 3 given the likelihood of us trading one or both of them, if the right deal comes along...

Didn't we have Jack Billings training with us earlier in 2013

Yep, and he was rumored to be the "other kid" we were going to take with pick 2, had the better trade not come up with Tyson/Salem.

I'm pretty sure Roos would pass up Brayshaw if he could get us 4 quality players by doing the same type of trade twice with both picks 2 and 3. Unfortunately Dom Tysons don't grow on trees. :P

Trade Clark, pick 23 and Blease for Pick 14 and Pick 35 from Geelong. Ontrade 35 for Lumumba, Stretch F/S in the 3rd round, Frost traded for 4th round pick. If unable to find any suitor for pick 3, trade it on to Gold Coast for 8 and 15.

Melbourne Has: Pick 2, Pick 8, Pick 14, Pick 15, Lumumba, Stretch, Frost

Out: Pick 3, Pick 23, Pick 41, Pick 60, Frawley, Clark, Blease

Trade any of 2, 8, 14 or 15 for established players or utilise them in the draft.

Edit: Forgot Frawley and draft picks edited for after free agency compo picks.

So if Roos doesn't like drafting talls early in the draft, chances are we will be looking to trade one or two in. Frost is already well known to be a likely inclusion although I'm not sure how we're going to do a deal. GWS won't be using too many draft picks this year with their reduced list numbers and Frost doesn't look like being worth a pick they'll use but is still contracted I believe. Interesting situation. I'd be looking at the other expansion club. I like the idea as I've stated earlier to look for another established ruck, preferably Clarke from Freo but Gold Coast's Nicholls and Gorringe might be interesting options too. Nicholls obviously as a ruck option and Gorringe more as your second ruck and tall forward option. Not much talk about these guys.

How many days into the week are we thinking we might see a trade that involves the dees?

Tomorrow

Clark for Geelongs 2nd rounder and maybe a player

Then ontrade that pick to the Pies for Lumunba

So a decent chance we see two trades by the Demons tomorrow

But trade week is always full of hold ups so who knows

Let's hope so.....

The hold up for us will be F/S bidding and Frawley compo, which we'll know by COB tomorrow.

I'd say Tuesday will be our big day. Roos just wants to get it over and done with, he's jetting off to Hawaii!

I heard he was off after the first week, if true we may put the cue in the rack on Friday

Tomorrow. I reckon we'll see the Clark deal done tomorrow. We need that pick ASAP for Lumbuma.

We should make it known that whoever is interested in picks 2 or 3 needs to provide us with a really good deal by Wed or else we will use 2 and 3 for the best two players we can get, i.e. two top mids, or a top mid and a gun forward. That should worry GWS and St Kilda as one of these will likely miss out unless they deal with us in a positive way.

Exactly!!

Had a good laugh looking at this proposed trade on the Essendon board which all the supporters seemed to agree with.

What about:
PA IN: Ryder, 48
PA OUT: 16, 35

WB IN: 35
WB OUT: Jones

CARL IN: Jones, Jaksch, Howlett
CARL OUT: 6, 41

ESS IN: 6, 16, 41
ESS OUT: Ryder, 48

They lose Ryder, Howlett and 48, yet get 6,16, and 41.

To be honest, I've seen worse proposed trades. Not sure Jones is worth any better than a third rounder, but if you throw in the other two, it's getting pretty close.

They will be lucky to get pick 16.

edit: by the way how do Essendon get pick 6? Last time I looked Jaksch played for GWS and they don't seem to be in the picture here.

Why any demonlander is even browsing an opposition club's forum is baffling.

I have no interest in Essendon supporters hypothetical trades.

Back to operation get-Dangerfield please.

They will be lucky to get pick 16.

The first bizarre rumour of the silly season : jeremy howe op for trade

Not a surprise...our backline will be rather crowded with Lumumba, Frost and perhaps Merrett.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
