I think we should tune up the auto censor.

These words should be acceptable, [censored] ([censored]) as in spike, [censored] (bltch) as in to complain.

When you allow [censored] or fukker it seems somewhat churlish.

Happy for you to delete this.

haha, lets just censor all 'aussie' from the world.

maybe we can all be 'americanised'... 'Thanks So Much' for listening, by y'all.

Have a nice day!

Is it sad that when I read this post I could not help but lmao?

Oh and just realised noone had posted since last night and felt the topic needed further oxygen lol.

Patrick is not in MFC's Cart (yet) but he is definelty on the Wish List

It was meant to be humourous but I don't think you really got it.

Adelaide wants to know if Dangerfield has signed his last contract with the club, and they want to know now.

But the cards are in the hands of Dangerfield - if he wants his freedom - all he has to do is endure 2015 at the Crows.

My god it will be a feral time, and he will regret a decision not to leave now if he has decided to go via Free Agency.

Keep the pressure up on the situation - if Adelaide can't get him to even verbally commit - they might try to force him out. A deal now will be 100 times better than compensation next year.

I don't have any new information, and no idea what Dangerfield will do.

But everything I was told, and posted, has gone public in the last 24 hours.

Suit yourself, but I'm taking refuge in the confirmation of interest and offers. Gotta be in it to win it.

Wouldn't doubt your info for a second, that's why I ask you for it. :)

When faced with uncertainty of information, generally I choose to believe whatever paints the most optimistic picture. I've got enough of a handle on my emotions these days to be able to do that and not be too disappointed if it doesn't pan out.

My reading of the situation is there's only two reasons we'd come out saying we'll give up 2 and 3 for Danger. Either:

a. we've got him, and now Adelaide are playing out their end of the script and pouring the blame and pressure on Danger, despite being perfectly happy to take picks 2 and 3 over FA compo

or b. we're making as public a statement as we can make in trade week to entice any other clubs desperate for top picks to come to us. We're prepared to give up these picks, so what can you offer us?

I've got enough of a handle on my emotions these days to be able to do that and not be too disappointed if it doesn't pan out.

Also you're a Melbourne supporter - you've endured a lifetime of being shat on

The ox is slow but the earth is patient

That's unfair. He did do his knee three times.

Patrick not coming out and flat out denying this is also suspect. Every party has put it back on Patty and he's yet to say a word.

Methinks everyone's just waiting for the compo now so this can go ahead. :)

Good post bb.

Even with posters posting their 'inside' info - those who say we've been in close discussions with Adelaide and Dangerfield's manager and that a deal is brewing, and those that say Dangerfield has flat out rejected the idea of coming to the MFC could all be right, even if the information is conflicting. Even with the best and most current info - people can lie, and people can change their minds. I wouldn't ever categorically decide anything until the deal (or non-deal) is done.

The only reason I have not completely dismissed the possibility is, as proven just prior to last season, A PJ led administration does not take a simple no for an answer. Roos said that PJ talked to him on numerous occasions and kept suggesting various scenarios and alternatives. I think PJ's modus operandi is that no is not no until it is 100% definitely, no tomorrow, finished, done and dusted no.

So true re the feral pressure that will come down on him. As we've gotten more used to FA the pressure is obviously being brought in earlier for players to resign. The standard " I want to leave trade negotiations til the end of the year so I can concentrate on my footy" can't wash in the break can it. So whats Danger gonna say " Id like to leave trade negotiations til the season starts so I can concentrate on having a holiday?" If he doesnt sign by the middle of the trade period I reckon Adelaide will move.

Spot on.

the ball is now in Dangerfields court , he now has to inform AFC of his intentions , which if you believe what is said he already has and we are all waiting on the Frawley pick

i suspect that danger or his manager is listening to offers which they will then take back to Adelaide who would obviously be trying to offer him a long contract extension now to lock him in so that he does not walk next year, this will come down to $$ how close will adelaide go to what Melbourne and other are prepared to put on the table. If we loose then Adelaide will have been forced to at least use a lot more of their salary cap on Danger, which will restrict their ability to spend in other areas.

In which case we move on to Rory Sloane

The onus is on Paddy and he has to decide whether he wants to screw over AFC to get to a Hawthorn or Geelong next season, take the money (and the good deal for AFC) and come to us or simply re-sign with them.

I wonder if he has the 'nads to tell Adelaide that he's willing to stay on and then head to a successful club next season, effectively throwing his old club under the bus? And whether or not they'll take him at face value.

Really, if AFC want to minimise risk and get the best deal possible, they should be signing for pick 2 and 3 as soon as possible.

Much as we all feel that Dangerfield will be a big boost to the Club, I am confident that we will see us use picks 2-3 to better effect and gaining 2-4 high calibre players for the midfield or a combination of key position and midfield options, citing last year's Tyson trade as an example.

Agree CB, I would take Brayshaw and do a Tyson deal with the other pick to get another 2 players in.

I don't agree with throwing everything at one player no matter how good at this stage of our "rebuild". This scenario is reminding me of the Moore and Templeton saga back in the 80's. That trade didn't get us far up the ladder even with Moore winning a Brownlow. We need a quantity of good players to fill the gaping holes in our list not just one elite.

An observation:

If he is a restricted free agent, then all Adelaide has to do is match the offer next year, which they will more than likely have the capacity to do against the big successful clubs. They could use this as leverage to a) force the clubs to trade b) steer Paddy towards a less successful club or c) stay. Unless Adelaide are nice about it, then it’s going to be very difficult for Paddy to get to Hawthorn, Geelong, etc

But if he was determined to come back to Melbourne and join a club who can offer greater dollars than Adelaide, i.e. the MFC; then Adelaide would need to give strong consideration to MFC’s offer this year so as to make the best of a bad situation.

Oh yes, I didn't think of the restricted/unrestricted issue.

I think it comes down to what Dangerfield wants. If he really wants to come back to Victoria then Adelaide won't want to hold on to him. Therefore, Adelaide need to find out now if he is going to want to stay so they can either get a good trade for him, hope that he changes his mind in 2015 or lose him to free agency and receive minimal compensation.

Yes but Tex, Sloane and Danger are all out at the same time, I highly doubt they will be able to match the offers from different clubs for all of these players. I.e. $1M a year for Patty, $700,000 a year for Sloane and Tex.

its quite interesting isnt it. Paul Roos ( and by association the rest of the club ) is playing the line as espoused by himself re FA etc. Hes on the front foot selling the "trade now or suffer later" message. He's showing all that the world of FA is well and truly here and it isnt all good news. However you can minimise your loss or indeed turn it to opportunity if you're open to a new way of thinking.

When is Adelaide ever going to get picks 2 and 3 again ?? I mean its theorectically possible I guess but extremely unlikley.

A classic case of outlook reversal here. Maybe the two in the bush is worth the one in the hand !!!

When you think about, this is probably not about Premierships.. in a sense.

Who is closer to a premiership Melbourne or Adelaide.. Adelaide you would think. But are just how close are they. Do they threaten the top 4 in the next 2 years.. i don't think so. They have some really good players. Walker / Sloane / Danger / Crouch. players that get them to in the 8 or just outside it.

Melbourne have a couple of really good players. Jones / Tyson, potentially Hogan. And are in a better position to add either really top end high draft picks, or add a ready to go star like a Dangerfield. do they get close to the 8 in the next 2 years.. no, but they go up the ladder. In 4 years time.. it is possible that Melbourne have gone past Adelaide, if their talent is realised, and they add the depth and star power they need.

In short, i don't think Dangerfield is winning a flag with either side, but he might end up earning a lot more money, living in his home state, playing with former crow friends and might play finals in 4 years time when Demons could be really on the march.

Good points, but remember they don't even have a coach.

All of this reminds me of something else, but has a similar moral. Dont ask dont get

As I grew up as a spotty teenager and into early adulthood a girl that was sort of in the circles I went around in ( literally sometimes..lol ) happened to turn form a not so ugly duckling into a drop dead model. A lovely lass, not at all affected ( character wise ) by her new found popularity :) At times over a drink etc I noticed she was less happy than shed been years before. I thought that odd. The world had come to her so what was wrong. It turned out she often spent a lot more time than she preferred alone . Seems men were afraid to talk to her, to ask her out etc for surely they would be rebuffed ans surely this gorgeous woman had any number of suitors. Turns out she didnt as nearly everyone thought the same thing.

The point is ....dont assume. Dont just accept that no one wants to play for us. That no one might not be enticed. Dont automatically think another Melbourne based club would win hands down should Patty decide on a move.

And here is where i think the New Melbourne is doing it ok, they are on the front foot asking, putting it out there. Again dont ask, dont get. You just never know what the answer might be and dont always accept the first answer as fait accompli .

Yes we might get knocked back but sometimes persistence pays off.....sometimes get you called a stalker...lol

My friend gave me very good advice... Believe in yourself, it cant hurt to ask, and more than once.

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
