GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

the point is the hawks got the highest compensation possible for buddy and won a flag so they should stop whinging about getting pick 19 for him

Why should they stop whinging ? I think the point is that just because they got exactly what the system dictated, it doesn't make the system right.

Forget the system and ask yourself this - in what universe is Frawley worth pick 3 (probably) but Franklin only worth pick 19 ?

Adding to Biggestred's response, the point is we got a Round 2 pick for Sylvia, a former No. 3 pick whilst Hawthorn received a Round 1 pick for Franklin. Also, as Premiers they had more depth than us [as Cellar-dwellers] so occassionally the AFL looks at things objectively!

So now you want FA compensation to be based on equalisation ???

Not that I care for the Hawks but anyone can suggest that Hawks weren't right royally screwed is beyond me. They weren't screwed from within the FA system but by the design of the system itself.

Well yes if nothing else substantial is done to promote equalisation. However there probably are better ways than that.

Let's face it, anything that promotes equalisation will be perceived by the big clubs as screwing them. And it will be too. Almost by definition.

The only question is, will they see a decent 18 team competition to be in their interest to such an extent as to outweigh that.

No that's not the question. Of course they will only think of themselves, that's why the commission was put in place and the AFL placed outside of club interests.

The real questions are will the AFL do what they are commissioned to do, will they ever act with the integrity they always talk about, will they make the right decisions in the interest of the game, or will the self interest of the commissioners and senior AFL people override all else.

Absolutely there are. FA as an equalisation mechanism is predicated on a FA leaving your club. If a FA doesn't leave a powerhouse then how dos that fit into the equalisation scheme ?

Is Mitch over his injuries and ready to play AFL? Trades are not done on potential but on their current value. On that alone, a MC for HL swap would be a win for us IMO.

Trades are done based on potential. The new club wants a player for the future not the past.

We traded 2 for Tyson (+-+-) Tyson was no star, he had potential.

Potential and demand.

Dusty found out all about demand end of last season. Richmond played hardball and I think they would smiling now given his output this season.

I stand by drafting for potential.

Dusty potentially is a ........ high risk. That is part of the potential equation. As a player his future potential is high, unfortunately for him the no fw policy says that potentially he is a very high risk player, which reduces his overall score.

If he had the attitude of Trengrove he would have had several offers.

Facebook rumour: "1116 SEN are reporting that a close source to Mitch Clark has said that the key forward will be at Collingwood next year, which comes as reports surface that Clark was again spotted at the Westpac Centre today."

Thanks Eddy.

I bet he leaves in a Lexus.

Makes Queens Birthday interesting if true

Mitch Clark booed as the crowd sees a big screen shot of him sitting in the stands.

I remember Eddie being FURIOUS when we were circling Cloak in his UFA year.

This IMHO is much, much worse.

I doubt he'll see it that way.

Clark has enormous potential to the right club if he is alright. The potential to take them to a top 4 position at minimum. He also has potential to be a total bust. I hope we play hard ball on this. We hold all the cards here.

If Mitch ends up wanting to go to the Pies (which seems likely based on the reports to date) then I'd be pretty confident predicting Harry L to the Dees

The Pies will have to commit their first pick to that Moore who is a Father Son selection? so it seems like a player swap is the most likely outcome. Or he may go as a FA and we might get a first round compo, which wouldn't be the worst result either

Sad times with all this Mitch stuff - I really wanted him to come back to the Dees... Time to move on

I'd rather let him go to the draft then swap him for Labamba

but he wouldn't be a FA or UFA

could only come under some special on-the-run afl compo ruling if he walked without a trade

uncharted waters

Wasn't Mitch Clark Jesse Hogan's mentor?

Just thought I'd post that in case any of you are running out of things to worry about.

Just imagine if mitch was a collingwood player eddie would be throwing the greatest tantrum of all time...

What AFL making a ruling on the run.....................

Let him go, get Harry O swap their third round with our fourth round pick.

Why would you do that to us?

Why would you do that to us?

Because we're all in this together.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
