Chris Dawes....

Does anyone actually read the posts before replying anymore?

As I have said already, a few times, clearly he's out of form. Those other factors don't help though. But you're OP is a far too simple minded look at what is happening.

Of course he is out of form. Hence why he needs to be dropped for Pedersen. Its as simple as that.

Even at Collingwood he was a poor mark even when he had good delivery and way more inside 50.

Needs a big pre season to get himself right again.

Yep, he struggles being the main forward, and when adding sht delivery into the mix it makes his job very tough. Can't see it changing quickly next year. It will take Hogan a while to settle in, regardless of talent. Is Pedo part of the answer? Gawn? Do we go for another tall forward in the draft? Maybe trade for someone like Cameron? On the other hand, if we don't have the midfield cattle to add to Jones and Tyson then the forwards won't get near it. There are just so many 'needs' on the team sheet it's difficult to know where to start.

We just need good players everywhere...

Pedo was more out of form (hence why he was dropped) and has had 1 good VFL game.

His disposal has been bad, which I don't expect from him, but to say "We paid him to be a key forward who could kick goals" is too simplistic. He's never been a big goal kicker, he's always been a lead up link up forward, which combined with Clark and Hogan was going to be a perfect mix, yet he's now copping it for not being the type of player he has never been.

So taking that, along with our horrible horrible disposal in and around 50 into consideration, I think you're aiming at the wrong target. Yep, he's been out of form, but he's not our main problem.

He's not the only problem 'stuie' agreed but for a while now he just hasn't lead up to the ball carrier. He's been trying to get it over the back, badly out of position or just not moving at all. So yeah our disposal into the forward line isn't good but the catch 22 is he gives us nothing to kick to. He needs to get on his bike.

As I said somewhere else, he has an identity crisis at the moment. He thinks he is a small defensive forward running around trying to lay tackles. Ever since that big tackle in Adelaide it's all he seems to want to do, all the praise went to his head.

Don't know about the praise going to his head, but reckon you could be onto something about the defensive mindset, maybe that is hindering his form/confidence/attack?

Me neither but he's just not providing the link up at all and is getting to bad positions 'stuie'.

I always found coaching in the local comps when a forward was doing this it was a confidence thing and he didn't really want the ball in his hands. He would lead to early, run under the ball or call for the ball out the back. This is what Dawes is doing.

Dawes has to present as a target, he must link up, his opponent today had 24 disposals and took him to the cleaners.

Right.....

So you're going to quote people when they're talking about different subjects to try and make yourself seem smart now?

That's pathetic even by your standards Moonie.

You disagree that we need good players in every area? Or do you disagree about Dawes? Different subjects buddy, not sure if you get that.

Dawes has been on even worse form. Id have Pedo over Dawes so far.

If he isn't dropped it will be a joke. He has done nothing for about 6 weeks. He is not even that good as a link up CHF because he cannot mark. Its as simple as that. We all know he will lead time after time but he cannot stick a simple mark and its becoming a massive issue for our side. Along with the fact he has struggled to kick a goal in the past 6 weeks.

I'm sure you could argue till the cows come home Stuie, boring us to tears as usual, however when you repeatedly criticise posters for being simplistic and then make an equally simplistic post in the same thread relating to the same player... accept the irony in the good grace we know you have.

I agree with your comments on Dawes earlier btw. Never let it be said that you don't post something useful occasionally.

Dawes is on very good money to be a key forward for our football club, right now in my opinion he's just not cutting it, he seems a good leader and works hard and a good example and all that, but his role in the team is to be a spearhead, but he's not kicking goals, or taking contested marks, and really struggling to mark overhead.

having said that I think Hogans return will help him out a lot

Are you reaching that much that you're making stuff up now? How does me saying we need good players everywhere directly relate to the discussion about Dawes?

That's right, it doesn't, it's just a thinly veiled attempt at a dig at me. Change the record mate.

Was Tim Broomhead taken with the traded pick? He had a good weekend kicking 3 for the Pies...

He had a good weekend - loosing by 10 goals as well

Garland played half a game in defence and kicked 1 goal.

Dawes brings leadership, he is down on form at the moment but he was one of the main reasons for us being a lot better between rounds 4 and 14

Last time champ, you seem to be struggling once again: I responded to your post on Dawes' form about Dawes needing support from another tall forward/s and greater midfield depth to which you responded we need good players everywhere. The basis of the discussion was about Chris Dawes. Get it? This is a Chris Dawes thread after all. That's where they relate. Or did you just randomly insert the simplistic "we just need good players everywhere" in this thread for the hell of it without knowing what was being discussed?

Good night Stuie.

Which you then tried to misquote... See the point yet?

"There are just so many 'needs' on the team sheet it's difficult to know where to start."

That would be a comment on the state of our list, not a direct comment on Dawes wouldn't it?

I'm happy to hold your hand and help you gradually discover logic, but first stop trying to misquote posts so you can try and personally attack people.

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
