In 2014 we look likely to have lost both our experienced bookends in Clark and Frawley, as the MFC takes another two steps back.

A PP would represent a single step forward.

Regardless of money why the hell would Cameron choose this basket case club and its merry band of sub AFL standard players???

No one will get a priority pick whilst the reasons given for deciding are subjective and based on future crystal balling.

"The MFC will not be given a Priority Pick - with Paul Roos going into his second season with the club, we expect to see further improvement from all parts of the playing group having already seen much better defensive efforts. Jesse Hogan will be a big bonus for the club and........and..... and... we expect him to kick 100 goals plus next year. Jack Watts will have a breakout season and find the intensity of Chris Dawes. Jordan McKenzie will become the goalsneak the MFC hoped he would become. Dan Nicholson's kicking skills are on the rise and we expect a big contribution as an Ablettesque midfielder. It has also come to our attention after reading Demonland that Jeremy Cameron, Dylan Shiel, Patrick Dangerfield and Nick Malcescki are all on their way to the club and despite being the biggest spud god ever put breath into Chip Frawley has re-signed with the club for 4 years at $2.59 per season. We will therefore not give the MFC a priority pick - after a close vote it was also decided not to remove picks from the club even though a very persuasive argument was put forward to the commission that the Demons were a shoe-in for the 2015 flag"

You forgot to mention that we will be hiring a new bootstudder and because of his brilliant bootstudding, we will be raging favourites for the flag.

Ahhh you are right !

"Due to the hiring of the guru of bootstudders (I ain't no dud or spud when it comes to a stud) not only Jack Watts show more intensity but he will also keep his feet in more than 1 in 10 contests he gets to."

I don't know when the decision gets made, but if we don't finish bottom we'll finish 17th. Frawley will walk, so we'll end up with 1-2 or 2-3. We'll then have a second round pick at around 20.

I can't see the AFL giving us a priority pick when we've already got that.

don't understand your logic

that would apply to any club who finished down the bottom and lost a band 1 FA

leave frawley's compo pick out of it, that is just a quid pro quo (at best)

there is no priority pick there so how can you say "we've already got that"

if we don't get a PP for the second year in a row they MUST drop the PP system completely

They have amended the rule and it now says that 8 years of putrid footy will not lead to a PP, it will require at least 15 continuous years of putrid footy, with of course one exception, a poor year by an interstate side will be strongly considered for a PP.

They should give us 2nd rd pick and say that they will take another look next year when - god willing - we are decent.

That still gives them the option of PPs and all we get is Pick 20.

I don't like it though, the rules should send Pick 1 our way.

But what are rules and policy to the AFL?

Mere suggestions to be massaged by public opinion.

Pick 20 would still give us some good bargaining power. But imagine how good it will be if we got 3 picks in top 10. Happiest thing ever to happen to a Demon supporter in 8 years. Idk what I would do....

Roos will be trading away our early picks, absolutely certain of it. He will inject the club with immediate and proven talent. What's the point of injecting more youth into a basket case when it's plain to see what happens when you bring in successful and established players like Daniel Cross?

I don't even care if ROK is "past it", he's a vast improvement on at least 25 other players on our list and probably 6 that played on the weekend.

Or trade them for Hogan & Barry + Tyson & ? (I forget) + Petracca...

We need all the help the rules allow.

We didn't trade away early picks to get Cross and I doubt Roos is stupid enough to just trade away those picks. If he does he will show that he is not concerned about leaving the club in good shape. Smart trading and drafting will get us there, we will pick up some more experience and class but not at the expense of the top end of the draft.

we won't get a priority pick.
just delete the thread and stop dreaming.

If we didnt get one last year, why would we get one this year.

Mate...because their reasons haven't proven justified. Us getting a priority is unlikely but possible. The only reason it's unlikely is cause you cant predict [censored] from the afl due to their incessant inconsistencies. We should at least ask...pick 20 as compensation is reasonable not wishful thinking.

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
