Removed snatch from the filter.

Let me know if you find other silly ones, by the way. I've been meaning to comb the list but haven't had time.

That's a relief. I've long thought a thread on the virtues and uses of "snatch" is well overdue. I'm sure many posters could make useful contributions. It could be the D'land equivalent of the educational channel.

The guy on the right appears to be looking the coach in the eye.

Clearly not Frawley.

Sounds good what about Tomlinson???

Jaksch extra bit of height, with agility & speed makes him a true versatile player type for attack of defence, we need to in our list. at 196/7 he can also help out on the monsters down back.

Tomlinson is welcome, but another 6' 4" player, only so many we can have roles for in one side. he could replace Dawsey or Garland.

hmmn, me 2

What are Chips hands doing under the table???

"Yeah Ross, I want 700k over 7 years. Sure I'm worth every cent. Oh yeah, I'm from the Country so I am soooo loyal"....tug, tug, tug!

I hear that he bleeds purple and white...or brown and yellow...or black and white...pretty much the colours of whichever team is willing to pay him the most for a colourful blood transfusion.

He may still bleed red and blue

Given how much Damien Barrett loathes the Dees, that would make him feel ill!!

He could even change colour...to................purple!!

Funny how the worm turns. Strange how things are seldom as they appear. It doesnt seem all that long ago we heralded a new dawn as to our stocks with the arrival of a strapping lad called Chip. Soon however the jury retired to reconsider its verdict and time after time doubts were cast as to his true voracity. These lingering niggles seemed cast to the 4 winds upon his accolade as AA. Still not all were convinced. Chip was however described by many as one of the pillars of our new destiny ( well they got that bit right )

Fast forward a little and news creeps through of a daring and stealthy coup by the Dees. We've snagged a gun. Mitch is all ours after a later than 11th hour raid and seeing off those nasty Fockers, i mean Dockers.

All hail Mitch, long live the Mitch. Unlike Spud there were never any doubts as to the potency of this guy on the field. Getting him there and keeping him on it were it seems to prove an entirely different thing. Here was someone , we thought, who epitomised everything we wanted in the New Melbourne.

I dont think there was anyone who would have thought Clark anything other than a godsend and then the skies turned dark, first apparently for Mitch but it was soon to spread and cover the club in a pall. Oh no, the Mitch is black !!

2014, season's end, and we now sit at the peculiar junction of roads whereby 2 players we thought to be budding stalwarts of the club, players who would lead us out of the darkness are indeed nought but agents of pestilence themselves.

Talk about backing the wrong horses. How ironic it seems to this observer that where once it was considered good for our fortunes that we had these players on our list that its now considered the heralding of a new era in disposing of them.

On field we are often less than glorious but off it we are seldom dull. I have real and true faith in what the Likes of Jackson, Taylor, Viney and Roos are setting about doing. As to ultimate success that can only be up to those whom this panel choose. If they bloom as hoped then we may well smell the favoured fragrance of success. If they wilt , so might all who follow the club resulting in an apocalyptic dust bowl. Barren, devoid of any meaningful life.

To expand the gardening analogy in order to provide a healthy environment to foster good growth you need to tend your lot, ridding it of deadwood and digging out the weeds. Its time to sow the seeds of our next marvelous era.

When does the 100 page thread start on " Will Garland stay or go" start?

who's this Will Garland ? ^_^

Not trying to be a smart ar..e, but I suspect you mean "veracity". That said, the hunger within must surely be in question, at least far as Chip's aspirations for the MFC are concerned. Accepting that, he is a free agent and entitled to look after his future. However, it remains of concern that the more lowly clubs are so susceptible to be pillaged and we are simply soft targets.

As for Mitch Clark, much has been said on here, following his 'retirement', of the need to be sensitive and empathetic to mental illness and that surely goes without saying. However, those with any knowledge of the concern, benevolence and assistance given to Mitch would know that much effort was put into Mitch, by the MFC, to help him through his "retirement" and beyond. Previously, assistance was also provided to his partner, by the MFC, so that she could continue her medical studies in Melbourne. Reports today indicate that the Geelong Footy Club provided a guided tour of Deakin's Geelong campus, so that she may be able to continue her studies there.

Of course, it should be welcomed that Mitch feels well enough to resume his AFL career, but if loyalty counts for anything these days, one hopes that Mitch may give more than a passing thought to the payment given to him by the MFC and the subsequent assistance he received during his convalescence. So do I mean that because the MFC gave him so much, he owes the footy club something. No, I don't. But maybe, just maybe, he might give a passing thought to those battle weary Demons supporters who invested so much hope in him and many of the same supporters wished him well in his recovery.

Sadly, I guess that for us supporters, we just have to suck it up and realise that's just the way of professional footy these days.

Your last line covers in Iv'a

the rest is from a buy gone era

actually od we have moved from a bygone era to a buy-gone era :):)

Very true dc

Frawley may be holding all the chips, but Lyon is holding all the drinks it would appear.

Matty Thompson should lose his job over that photo.

He is such a [censored], to him that is just doing his job.

They must have known he was there. Thompson takes up two chairs when he sits.

Not that it makes much difference - but did he take the photo or was it passed onto him and he let is fly on twitter ?

With all the shifty business going on in this game, there is always the posibilty of a players manager leaking something like this to push up a players currency with other very interested suitors. The paparazzi could be a manager. Managers are usually present to talk dollars, tenure and other perks are they not?

Could be either, but i do know Thompson would do anything to get a story...He has little shame.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
