Roos 3 years

Featured Replies

Would still prefer Roosy to continue as coach, but I'll settle for this excellent news to start with.

Great news confirmed on MFC site..

Excellent Robbie, been anticipating this news for some time.

The announcement can only further stabilise our club.

Chip must honor his word and sign on now.

The clouds are finally parting and sunshine is on the horizon.

Didn't Frawley make a remark along the lines of "if Roos signs and extension, then I will".

I know Roos hasn't formally signed yet but seems a formality.

Time to step up Mr Frawley.

I mentioned this was what was happening on the Hogan thread last week and a couple of people on hear got stuck into me for making up rumours?!!??!?! Those people should apologise.

I will say one more thing. Don't be surprised if Roos remains as coach beyond this contract........

I suppose gnf the longer we don't have a successor the better?

This is Fantastic.

Goodonya Roosy

From here, what I'd like to see, IF Roosy doesn't extend beyond 2016, is for him to become a Board member for a further 3 years representing the football side of board decisions.

And also I'd like him to have a full-time paid role at the club with player development, & areas around supporter relations & future direction.

I always had the feeling that the whole 2-3 year thing was/is just leaving a back door unlocked - just in case Roos was to put 2-3 years in and we were still a complete basket case.. if at the end of 2016 we are, say, sniffing around the top 4 I feel like he will just stay on for as long as he needs to 'complete his mission'

Settle down guys, nothing has happened. Article is a bit mis-leading.

The article is not misleading, for once everybody is quoting words that came out of Roos' mouth directly

Love your work GNF. You have always been on the money.

Keep posting.

The headline is very misleading. It suggests he's confirming he will be senior coach for three years, not two...

Where did he say he's staying for 3 years? Nowhere. Nothing has changed since two days ago...

"“We’re still wedded to that, [but] whether that’s after two years or whether that’s after three years "

If anything, I'm dissapointed as he mentions three years will definitely be the longest he stays as senior coach.

LOL how about taking a leaf out of your own book and look at what has actually been said

“That’s certainly something I haven’t discussed,” he said when asked if there was a chance he would coach in 2017 and/or beyond at Melbourne.

according to you that is 'definitely' a max. of 3 years

I did look at what has actually been said: “In terms of the pure coaching and the senior coaching, the three years will see me out.”

LOL

it also keeps the players & everyone else, board, admin, etc, on their toes, to keep up their end of the bargain, to extract the digit & to take ownership of their failings & work hard to improve themselves & the club generally.

what the club doesn't want him, or can't afford him?

ah......

All this back slapping!

I for one would like to thank the AFL for getting us Peter Jackson and by extension Paul Roos.

The AFL are much maligned and they often deserve it, but they have done our club an enormous favour.

Thank you AFL.

I think GNF's post will do me.

He has a very good track record.

That'll do me too.

But Roos hasn't confirmed he's staying for the 3 years, that is a fact that should be represented on the thread.

AJ out.

well they should, as they kicked Us for doing the same as others were doing. & they have had a big part via their short sighted thinking over the decades, & causing an in-balanced 2 tiered competition.

you can't do that, & then kick those who are already down, as they try to get up.

I reckon Frawley may have meant if Roos extends past optional 3rd year, than he'd sign

Did they kick us? Really?

The fine was absorbed part of our larger donation to get rid of unwanted staff and bring new expertise in, no draft penalties, none of our current coaches suspended, and Schwab and Connolly forced out.

Doesn't seem like much 'hurt' to me!

I am ecstatic if this plays out as expected from this point on.

We can but hope.

Roos knows about the value of stability and how to get the press off his back. They have been hounding him on this story and so he has come out with a statement that will essentially end the speculation.

I'm not really one for posting links but in terms of happy about this news, cue to 1:53 secs of 'smash them like guitars' i'd even try and make a gif out of it if i wasn't on a ipad.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
