I cant even begin to tell you how silly your comment sounded to me

I thought Carlos was just correcting an apparent misconception. "Silly" just seems insulting and (dare I say it?) silly.

Quite frankly I'm sick of hearing that Tyson/ Kelly comparison and I'm also sick of hearing the skewed argument of the actual trade.

As Carlos Danger said above with reference to the facts of the "actual trade", it was Tyson (2011 NAB pick 3), pick 9 (we selected Salem) and pick 57 (we selected Hunt) for pick 2 (GWS selected Kelly), pick 20 diluting* to 22 (GWS selected Gardiner) and pick 76 (GWS opted to pass).

Diluting* was due to three FA compensation picks along with the loss of Essendon's first round pick.

As for this endless comparison between Tyson and Kelly, Roos has stated (refer to his round 8 post-game press conference) that if the club held pick two they would not have selected Kelly with it but instead use it on someone else (presumably Billings, Aish, or even Scharenberg). As it was reported many times prior to the draft clubs were having trouble differentiating and ranking the players past pick one - many clubs would have had a different order.

This idiotic comparison has been driven by moronic media jocks like DB and Sam Edmund who have probably never touched a footy in their lives. Unfortunately it's caught on to the point where Tyson's name can't be mentioned without reference to Kelly, for example it was very frustrating watching the Rich vs. Melb replay with Luke Darcy stating how good he thought Tyson was and naming him within a short list of future stars of the game (Tom Liberatore was another), then Matthew Richardson buts in including Kelly, Darcy's response was something along the lines "too early to call".

Overall I'm over the moon with the trade, so far it's well and truly looking like we ended on top. As I stated above Tyson is showing all the signs of a future star, and Salem is showing all the signs he is no draft bust and may have a long career ahead. It certainly was a good year at the trade and draft table for us.

Trades like this are always going to be debated - there is nothing wrong with comparing what we gave up for what we got.

The problem that most of us has is with the finality of which Barrett and a couple others called it a failure.

Don't know yet, but I am very comfortable with the decision.

see mitch clark's tweet?

compared him to luke hodge meets simon black.

Yeah, I see a lot of Hodge in him, good call.

Over the moon having Tyson in the red & blue.

Eight goals in his last six games. I love goal kicking midfielders. I particularly love goal kicking midfielders who do more of their work on the inside but have the polish on the outside to finish. I love them even more when they're still young, inexperienced and have great hair.

Glad I'm not the only one to appreciate Dom's great hair.

He seems to kick one of those amazing 55 metre goals every week.

He used to have better hair, disappointing really.

I love goal kicking midfielders that contest the ball, lay a tackle 55 metres out, rip the ball from the victims hands, stand up and kick a 55 metre goal off a step and a half.

Haven't seen too many of those midfielders who play for the Dees...

His one step kicks are fine until he misses a target, and he missed a couple up in Alice...

The few that I have seen do it...

Jeez, I don't want to mozz the kid.

He's going to be good. Hell, he is good, he could be as good as the unnamed few I have in my head.

Anyone know when Tyson's contract expires?

Signed a four year contract

Id love Jones to win 3 Blueys in a row as I feel after the last few years carrying the Club he deserves to have his name in the timber 3 times in a row. Saying that, I reckon Tyson could pinch it

One talent spotter said overlooking Kelly, 19, could prove worse than the well-documented Watts-Naitanui decision.

Wow the bloke who wrote that article must feel like a doodle head, Dom Tyson right now might be better than Kelly ever becomes.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
