Changes for Round 7 vs Adelaide

Featured Replies

Soooo what's the latest on Garland?

There are 6 in the current 22 that IMO deserve to be dropped for underperforming in the season as a whole thus far

It seems like Roosy's approach, however, is to avoid making lots of changes with a view to positive support and stability in the lineup

Therefore we might only see 1 change or even none

"Just got a knock above the knee... so its a bit swollen... we expect him to train Thursday and play on the weekend" (probably be VFL)

Just had a quick scan over this thread. ATM, I'm slurping a particularly decent shiraz so I may have missed something. BUT. Did I really read Dawes position in the side being questioned?

If so - you've gotta be effing kidding! ( or you are slurping something even better than me)

I think ATM is in a fairly exclusive group bbo

1 is a group?

Before deciding what to do with Watts the question which need to be asked is this: What, if anything, is going to make him a better player? We all know it's about his hardness and willingness to take on the contest, but where is he going to learn it?

I'd be happy for him not to be a contested player (IMO he never will be) but what I can't abide is his pathetic running. He needs to run his guts out, get off the ground for a rest, get on and run his guts out and repeat. We all want to see effort. That doesn't necessarily mean smashing packs.

I don't really want us to go up against an in form TeX Walker, because they'll probably slaughter us.

In form walker? Are you kidding? Has had a knee reco and has had one game back in the dewkickers.

He's hardly 'in form'...

Two games. ;)

Is Pig Dog the best nickname of all time?

Pretty good.....though not Kosher. Just as well Joe G isn't still in charge :-)

Roos' public statements this week suggest Watts will not be dropped.

I like Matthew Lloyd's idea. Give him a heavy workload of an assignment (eg. tagging Betts).

Blease's downside must be massive. How a line-breaker with decent skills cannot get a game in the worst line-breaking team in the AFL speaks volumes about his other flaws.

I think its been a well-known problem for sometime - he just doesn't do enough defensively. I see him as a bit of a selfish player and if you are going to be a selfish player you have to be really good (Stevie J)

"Sam Blease: Sam played wing and half-forward and had 16 possessions. Sam’s focus has been to gain more possessions in the forward half of the ground. He did that the previous week, but was unable to back it up this week. Defensively, he had some major lapses during the game and we know he’s much better than that."

I love what they are doing with the fringe players and the magoos - make them earn their spot and don't get a crack until they learn how to take the game on and defend....

Only wish we started implementing this 6 years ago.

Yes - I wonder if it would have had made any difference to Watt's or Morton

It hasn't worked before, all of these type of ideas have been circulated in the past by ex players and here on Demonland. Jack just has to get it together, simple statement not so easy to implement.

I love what they are saying about the fringe players. Maybe I remember incorrectly, but in previous years when you'd read a summary of our VFL players performances it was full of platitudes and you'd wonder why they weren't playing in the seniors. Now each seems to be given a message in that public forum about a particular weakness which tells the player, and us, why they are still in the VFL and what they'll have to do if they want to be promoted.

Being Jewish and having eaten both dog and pig I am going to burn in hell. Good thing is my mob don't believe in hell. ( good thing I don't believe in anything)

Like wise nutbean I don't believe however if we are wrong it is going to be a serious mistake.

An old school friend said to me last year " should we take out insurance"

I said no the policy cost is way to high.

Is Nutbean just a vegetarian version of Pigdog?

(and therefore kosher)?

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
