Players to target at the end of the year

Toumpas can't run, can't kick, can't tackle.

At this stage a worse pick 4 than Cale Morton.

Trade him while he has some level of currency.

Remind me what we got in return for Cale Morton?

To be fair he was also traded after his 4th year on the list, showed that he clearly was a dud so that's why we traded to get pick 88 (i think it was, went on to get DRod with it), this is Toump's first year and still has some value left.

Remind me what we got in return for Cale Morton?

I think that was the point.

Anyone see in the paper today under 'The Whisper', the following message:

'Is footy's oldest club planning recruiting revenge with a raid on one of the game's brightest young stars?'

Jeremy Cameron, anyone?

It would explain his form slump if he has received some fairly significant offers, the hardest thing for the Giants is so many of their players are going to increase in value so they need to be careful about handing out huge money

I am not against picks 2 & 3 going to the Giants for Cameron and Shiel

The talk is that our number 1 target is Jeremy Cameron. We may well have already made a big bucks deal to his management. He would replace Clark but is seen as the next Wayne Carey by many in the industry.

We would be crazy not to do that deal.

We would be crazy not to do that deal.

And why would they do that deal?

Unless you get both to say - I am going home - GWS doesn't want to get younger by doing that trade.

And trading away the best of their existing youngsters.

That's what I was implying...there's no way that GWS would do it, and if they offered it we'd be mad not to accept it.

Couple of weeks agi he was Caseys leading tackler for the game with 6. The week before he also laid 6 tackles.

We all know he can kick your just spouting rubbish and excuses to get rid of him so early.

HaHaHa, you forgot, can't field as well.... & can't play cricket. would you take 2 bob da

He wouldn't really replace Clark as he isn't a forward/ruck option and whilst Carey really rates him he is a very different type of player. Hogan is more Carey like, Cameron gets a lot of his goals from the ground and reminds me more of Hudson than Carey.

I'm pretty sure Toumpas was near the front of the running during the majority of pre-season.

We all know he can kick....but as with many highly rated juniors, they are usually the play makers and accumulators of their teams...which generally means that their defensive habits need a bit of work.

Paul Roos is defense personified and Toumpas is in learning mode. He's being taught defensive side and structures of modern AFL footy all the while developing his body.

Will he be a star? who know, the jury's still out...but it is way too soon to write him off at this stage.

I'd be very disappointed if we were to trade him.

Heard Darling was keen to move, Watts for Darling?

Toumpas in his 2nd season is stranded in the 2s for now despite promising performances and many want him gone.

Tom Mitchell in his 3rd season is stranded in the 2s despite excellent performances and many want to recruit him.

I understand the swans are a premiership fancy and it's much harder to push into their side, but there's a heavy dose of hypocrisy here.

Toumpas still has a lot to offer going forward.

bang on, unless a deal was offered up that meant us getting Dangerfield for Toumpas and a pick I would be shocked if he isn't with us next year and beyond

your right. Toumpas is being taught. defence, composure, attitude, mental toughness, all the things a talented skilled kid has had easier than many, & maybe hasn't learnt Yet.

but you wouldn't trade him for Dangerman?

Not sure on this but did hear some commentators talking about WC needing to get some quality in the midfield and mentioned Darling as trade bait. Don't think this equates to Darling being keen to move and I'm pretty sure Watts is not what they're looking for.

Maybe they should give Darling an extended run as a mid...but anyway that's their problem.

Mitchell is being pushed out of the strongest side in the competition, and probably the strongest side we've seen in a few years.

Toumpas is being pushed out of a side that probably wouldn't even beat Sydney's reserve side.

Yeah... Nah.

Mitchell has had another year on a list.

Both are not ready for the top level yet and are being held back to develop.

It's a loose comparison, but there is hypocrisy there.

Well cameron fits the profile for that small article in the herald sun. With the money we gain from

Clark and frawley which seems likely.. We'd have around 1.2mil to 1.3mil to play with. He'd be worth every cent for around that amount

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
