nutbean 8,838 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Just a reminder okay - i wasn't excited until I saw these again.
drdrake 3,203 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 We are all dreaming if we think we will see him playing for Melbourne this year. He will only start running late this week, he basically needs to do a complete pre-season again so 8-10 week block of running with some ball work. I think 10 weeks best case to see him at Casey

I think 10 weeks best case to see him at Casey While I don't hold hopes of him playing this year (only because i don;t want them crushed again), 10 weeks at best to return to Casey? He hasn't just started walking this week. He's missed 12 weeks, that's a little over the top.
SaberFang 7,151 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Even with two months of running and training, that places him at Casey around round 18, and he could potentially play 2 or 3 games for the MFC at the end of the season. Better than nothing. Would also help him get past a mental barrier he's been dealing with for two years now in finally getting his AFL debut. I think that's an important consideration heading into a 5 month break.

I think 10 weeks best case to see him at Casey No longer suffering symptoms and has started running, provide we ease him in well i'd say 6 weeks isn't out of the question, i have worked with stress fractures quite abit in my job, and while i don't know much at all about Jesse's individual situation i have found that once they start running providing symptoms don't return recovery can be fairly quick
SaberFang 7,151 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Obviously Jesse needs to be under strict instructions to inform the medicos at the first sign of pain though. We can't risk another hiccup because it's well and truly season ending.

Dee Fan 3,247 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-06-06/hogan-in-frame-for-debut That sounds the most promising report we've heard so far.
old dee 24,082 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 That sounds the most promising report we've heard so far. Please excuse my negativity but I will believe it when he runs out in a game for Casey Robbie

beelzebub 23,392 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 As a sort of aside to all of this the real gem of reality I see as bottle-able is that in the past we hung so many hopes on this player or that. These were our saviours, our only real hope of success. Hogans not on the park...and.... Mitch has left the park ....and ..... a handful of other things havent quite gone the expected paths. But we're still here and not just bumbling along we're actually getting somewhere , albeit slowly, but we are. I'd love to see Hogan on the park this year but if he doesn't,,so be it. Not fussed
Deemotivated 550 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Watched the videos again... Damn I hope he loves Melbourne and never leaves!!
binman 44,814 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Great article in terms of terrific information from Mahoney. Exactly what some, including myself have called for. If it doesn't pan out that way then so be it but at please we have some clarity. Also sounds if they have managed him real ally well both in terms of the injury but also keeping him engaged. Love the idea of him working with the opposition analysts.
dee-luded 2,959 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Round 19 Sunday, August 03 vs Brisbane @ the MCG This is my predicted Hogan debut yep I agree. Actually on 2nd thoughts, I don't think he'll be ready for that game. So its either the Hawks game, or the Giants, our home game. If he gets thru to that point. I think he'll be back around 12th July for Casey development for an easy run, at Port Melbourne.

He hasn't just started walking this week. He's missed 12 weeks, that's a little over the top. I assume that would be games missed, not missing all that training. I think he's missed about the last month, with total rest. So he wouldn't be totally Unfit. He would be without any match condition, & I think hasn't run for the last month. IMO he needs a 'mini Pre' build up on fitness work, & then eased into VFL games over 3 weeks. An easy hitout with Casey reserves (July12), then 3 games for Casey against Frankston, bye (training), the Northern Blues, & then the Borough @ Port. I think he'll be ready to go against the Giants Rnd 21 at the MCG for his Debut.

Not fussed Not a saviour BB just another piece of the puzzle and one that will give us more options, he's played a fair bit down back and to have him playing together with Chip and Pedo will ensure we have the flexibility to match or mismatch when the need arises.
Pipefitter 2,225 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Good article finally. As supporters if we don't see them on the track we have no idea. Great to see they are working on his core.
