New Demonland Banner

Featured Replies

Not sure why but my first impression was of the afterglow resulting from thermal annihilation !!

Not quite a warm and fuzzy feeling lol

My first thought too when I saw it - or the landscape 5 minutes after the final siren MFC vc WCE

I would have to say that i'm not always simpatico with Osiliks views but Dunn deserves a spot on our banner. In my humble opinion he is in our top 8 players and is arguably our most consistent player and perhaps our most underrated player.

He misses few games through injury, hits targets by hand and foot, is good in the air and rarely gets beaten one on one. Seriously how many other players on our list could tick all those boxes.

If it's arguing against one Nate Jones then it will lose, hands down, every single time.

I've never rated Dunn but funnily enough I do agree that he is in our top 8 most consistent performers (unfortunately I just see that as a representation of where our list is at).

I also don't think he's banner-worthy just yet. Maybe it's that mo etched in my memory from the past few years (I still picture him with it) but he's just never been a marketable player in my opinion.

Yep, fair call. Would you accept one of our second most consistent player?

Simply put Roos, Jones and Grimes.

That's all that is needed.

I actually just write Demonland with a pic of Roos and leave it as that.

For now, yes. But I would love to have this chat again this time next year!

PS In regards to the banner, I personally wouldn't mind seeing some faces from the Team of the Century (keep in mind I'm a newcomer so forgive me if it's been done before). Ron Barassi, Jim Stynes, Norm Smith, Robbie Flower to name a few. There are some absolute legends in that team.

How about a pic of the side in a boat with out a paddle going up [censored] creek.

Yeah lets go without current players. It only seems to jinx them.

and the ghosts appear :)

If I have such powers then I really need to figure out how to use it for good instead of evil. Either that or work out a way to monetise it. :)

Put a couple of filth players up, see what happens?

not sure why you would take the old one down without first thinking of a replacement

think....

I think we should just wait yo see who stands up consistently this year and add them as we go.

Jones is a given.

Put whoever's fit on the banner.

Should be plenty of room for all of them.

If Matthew Whelan doesn't make this incarnation of the banner I'll crack it Dale Kickett style.

from left to right,

Trengove, Garland, Jones, Roos, Grimes, Watts, Dunn

Just do it

Howe has got to make it up this time .

Paul Roos and all of his Melbourne premiership players.

Wonder who the bald bloke is...

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
