I called it in 2011.

I hope his foot is the problem.

Why did you say it was his achilles?

Assumption?

Anyway, I recall him not being fast, but he did have enough speed to not only contribute, but to take games by the scruff of the neck.

I recall a big mark late in the game agains Adelaide. Possibly the same one where he was suspended for a vicious but fair tackle on Dangerfield.

Clearly even Trengove feels like he's not been able to do what he used to, judging by his comments, and the problem has gone back 18 months, judging by Roos' comments.

Official injury list for round 6

Dom Barry (calf) test

Jack Fitzpatrick (ill) available

Jesse Hogan (back) 4 weeks

Dean Kent (calf) 1 week

Viv Michie (jaw) 2 weeks

Luke Tapscott (hamstring) available

Jack Trengove (foot) season

No mention of Jimmy T who was going gangbusters on Sunday at Casey until he received a knock in the second quarter. I have him down as favourite for this week's mystery injury of the week.

The weeks are going by slowly for Jesse Hogan.

No Maxy? Be great to see him tear it up at Casey this week and get himself back into the ones ASAP.

Is it my imagination or are things mushrooming a little?

Colin Garland (knee) – test
James Harmes (lung) – indefinite
Jesse Hogan (back) – indefinite
Dean Kent (calf) – available
Max King (leg) – 4-6 weeks
Viv Michie (jaw) – 1 week
Jake Spencer (ankle) – test
Jack Trengove (foot) – season

unbelievable the amount of avoidable injuries we have had the last few years and how they have been left to get worse over time

when will our fitness staff be held accountable?

Unbelievable that anyone can be so certain how many were 'avoidable'. Stuff happens. It just hurts more when you have no depth.

A great initiative by Roos to start sending players off now for post season operations, having them ready in time for the 2015 preseason, rather than waiting until Round 18 when all other clubs who won't make the finals do it.

Less questions will be asked about our "list management", which in turn should see us net Pick 1 in the draft, a priority pick for poor performance, and no sign of a $500k fine for doing so.

The man is a genius.

Yeah we should be playing the game in an anti-gravity non-contact environment to prevent all those "avoidable" injuries with things like other players or the ground...

Alright Dr Hogan - you believe in accountability from the medical/fitness staff ? I'm glad you value accountability so highly.

Please be accountable for your posts and list the avoidable injuries over the last fews years and exactly how they were left to get worse over time.

I find the continuous bashing of our medical/fitness staff absolutely perplexing. Unless you are embedded in the club and privy to the treatments and actions of the staff (and players) you have nothing to base your assumptions on.

Here's the injury list from this article on the club's site - Frawley 50/50 for clash against Bulldogs

Melbourne injury list: round eight

James Frawley (toe) test

Jesse Hogan (back) indefinite

James Harmes (lung) 1 week

Max King (shin) 4-6 weeks

Viv Michie (jaw) available

Jake Spencer (ankle) 3 weeks

Jack Trengove (foot) season

Jack Watts (back) test

Good to see Viv Michie back after that broken jaw but what happened to Jake Spencer (last week - test)? That ankle has turned into a 5 week injury given he's now missed a couple.

Then you can add Jack Viney (crucifixion) 2 weeks and Dean Kent is also facing the VFL Tribunal for an alleged offense from last Sunday.

Kent is fronting VFL tribunal tonight on a rough conduct charge for 'tunneling' in Sunday's Casey Scorpions loss. Tunneling is a far more serious charge than effecting a bump so I'm tipping 10 weeks.

On the normal basis of judging MFC pronouncements on injury Frawley is 426

The latest Melbourne injury list doesn't give us any cause for optimism about Jesse Hogan in the short term at least but it appears that a Jack Fitzpatrick has been spared major injury in the Casey game. Hogan comes back from a visit home and hopefully, we'll see some progress on his return. Here's the list from the club's site:

Injury list Round 9

Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) test

James Frawley (toe/hamstring) test

Jesse Hogan (back) indefinite

Max King (leg) 3-4 weeks

Jake Spencer (ankle) 3-4 weeks

Dean Terlich (concussion) test

Jack Trengove (foot) season

Dean Kent should also return this week after serving a week's suspension in the VFL.

Posted

Going by what Misson said in his previous injury report, Harmes should be good to go this week also.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
