Quicker than expected.

I'm excited.....bring it on Jonesy and Grimesy!

Get your tips in! Surely it's Jones although at Sydney Roos did have a triumvirate of captains so perhaps Grimes and someone like Dawes or Frawley as well?

Personally I'd prefer one captain but that isn't the Paul Roos way.

That was originally my view but now I don't think we really have one clear cut leader. Jones is an on-field leader while Grimes seems more an off-field leader. They might make a good duo.

I'm going Grimes & Jones too. But, Paul Roos can be unpredictable sometimes.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Garland or Frawley in there as a trio.

Pretty certain Jones is a lock in though.

Prefer one...Grimes for me and will be happy with Mr Jones if the there is two..

So glad this will be over, controversial topic with much passion

Now I know what PJ stands for :- Premature jack

I think Grimes as captain. with a group of understudies.

Jones Clark Dawes Garland Frawley

Lets appoint Roos as Captain/Coach LOL

For mine...

Captains: Grimes, Jones

Vice: Garland, Dawes, Cross

Rest of LG: Frawley, Clark, Trengove

I'd prefer whatever the hell Roos wants.

anyone go to training and see who the boys are congratulating?

Hope Frawley has thrown his hat in the ring, would boad well for him committing to the club long term.

I was at the team photo shoot yesterday.

Grimes and Jones sitting proudly either side of Roos, read into that what you will.

Clark and Frawley either side of them but I don't expect to see a third captain, despite what happened at the Swans.

The decision at the Swans was based on having a captain in each sector of the field, Hall (Forward), Kirk (Mid), Barry (Defender). On that basis if the third was to come from Clark or Frawley you'd have to favour Clark, I think they'd be more inclined to let him focus on getting his body and mind right to play footy.

All theories, very likely everything I say is waaaaay off.

I will take a stab from left field and say Shannon Byrnes, hes the oldest and has premiership experience

I would not be surprisd to see Dunn in the LG

Jones for captain for me

Clark for VC...or vice versa if I had my way.

I'll take a dual role if its the case and accept it whoever gets the two tier act...... but I dont like it simply because I am old school.

Its what the club wants that counts though.

Jonesy deserves a crack at it.

Seasons nealry here People!

Trolling surely...

My guesses:

Capt: N.Jones & Grimes

VC: Frawley & Dawes

Remainder of LG: Garland, Clark & Cross

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
