I was riding my bike along the Yarra this morning and happened to notice the Dees training on Goschs Paddock. I stopped for a short while.

A few observations:

I have never, and I mean never, seen an MFC group train with such intensity. When I was there, they were basically doing circuits, but at full pace, and intense practice kicking accurate 50m passes to fast leading. This also included amongst the kicking and leading, individual players sprinting from one end of the field to another while the kicking and leading was going on around them. The intensity was hugely impressive;

- there were others running the boundary, but at full pace for a change. Honestly, they looked like Olympic athletes such was the intensity. These groups included McKenzie (a very impressive runner - something I hadn't seen from him before), Strauss (likewise), Jamar (impressive commitment), Tyson (a lot less tentative compared to last week), Garland (as impressive as ever).

Notable absentees were sadly Gawn and Bleese. Hopefully they will be back soon.

And who? Gawn and......?

Breese?

I don't mean to sound like a negative nelly but everyone can look good at training.

Everyone.

The intensity is pleasing of course. But I do remember hearing the same about pre-season last year.

And we all know what followed on from that.

I know what you mean, but having observed these guys over several seasons now, there is a huge difference between what they are doing now and what they did over the last 2-3 years.

I know it sounds simplistic, but they really look as thought they mean it now. They looked like they were going through the motions under Neeld, probably because it was a chore, not a means of self and team improvement.

I even saw JW, JS, AND LT, cashing packs and looking as though they were enjoying it, even this early in the season. They are very fired up.

This group is totally different from last year. You can feel the intensity and commitment. You couldn't help but notice it and admire it. I have never seen it from the MFC before. Maybe you have- but I haven't.

I thought we'd have delisted Daniel Breese by now.

Nasher, i know you are a "big wig" on here, but I think these sorts of comments are unworthy of your elevated position. I hope you are happy with your ridicule.

I once wore a big wig to a party and received lots of ridicule. It was fun.

I agree dees2014. I hate snide unnecessary remarks on typos.

I, for one, appreciate hearing your observations.

Sorry Moon but it was not your Wig they where all laughing at!

Well it's good to hear then Dees2014. Appreciate your observations

I'm sure they will all have a spring in their step knowing Roos is lurching. That'll be a huge confidence booster on its own. Surely this is the season we see a rise. We'll see how high.

I'm also one to get overly excited over pre-season only to be let down as everyone else has.

I agree dees2014. I hate snide unnecessary remarks on typos.

Ditto from me, dees2014.

It's good of you to report your observations for those of us who don't get to training.

So what if you messed up a name. No big deal.

I hope that the petty response doesn't put you off from contributing again in the future.

Great posts Dees2014, thank you for sharing your observations with the likes of me and others, as I am unable to see them train due to work and its location.

As for your typo I too saw it but didn't think much of it, it cercertainly didn't warrant the comments received.

So not to worry and keep the intel coming - much appreciated.

Someones finally flipped the switch to ON

Ah summer time is here! - time to pull out the rose coloured sunnies.

Only this year I am taking a slightly conservative approach.

Any chanse any won can find an exquse to act in sosialable, Thay wil. The point is to relay information, if thay mis spel and yo argh confused, just ask for claryfication. Politly

I enjoyed reading your post Dee2014 and knew instantly who you were talking about. Thank you

Not me. I was fat, lazy, uncommitted and would sneak off to the bar as soon as the coach looked the other way.

I can't believe Bails and Neeld kept me around so long.

I'm sure most appreciate your efforts in giving a training report, but...

If you've not yet learnt how to spell a player's name after 5+ years on the list, you probably deserve ridicule.

Dont be so bloody precious.

Nasher was clearly making a light joke.

And FCS don't take yourself too seriously.

God forbid anyone else should.

A bit like some people on here still continue to call Brent Moloney Brent MALONEY ? who cares seriously at least he took the time to write up a report and I for one am grateful he did. I'm not saying you had a go at him btw just making comment that there are hundreds of people on here who continually misspell players names.

some people are just dyslexic. they are what they are

on the other hand others are just lazy or ignorant

a very small few like me are just perfect

move on

Someones finally flipped the switch to ON

I effing hope so bee im sick of the crap we've been given for way, way too long.

Yes they do care but I just wonder why ? Is it really necessary to pot someone when all they did was post a training report. If he said the wrong name at the altar or during sex then yes he deserves criticism .. but critising a training report when there are so many people here that not only cannot spell players names but also simple words is just pointless.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
