SEN on twitter has just stated that Scott Watters has been sacked. Holy [censored] the focus might be of us for once next season

Yep, AFL just tweeted the same... Scott Watters believed to have been sacked.

Edit: now confirmed by AFL on Twitter

I know it finally just got put up by Jon Ralph......apparently the players plus coaches didn't rate him enough to lead the way.....holy [censored]

Holy crap....
Seems very sudden as far as his tenure goes (there have been rumblings however). What has been going on behind the scenes there? Did he subscribe to the same line of thinking that Mark Neeld did? What the bloody hell is going on? I thought 2013 was the first year of their rebuild and compared to us, they were down right respectable!

terrible timing after most of the viable replacements are essentially no longer in teh market.

Unbelievable.

Even more so given the comments he made this morning on radio. This. Morning.

"St Kilda coach Scott Watters has maintained that there was "massive upside" and "a very optimistic feel" about the Saints team he was leading despite reports that the club's football department was fractured, with substantial conflict between Watters and football chief Chris Pelchen."

"Speaking on Radio SEN on Friday, Watters said suggestions that his relationship with Pelchen was strained were "almost laughable".

"Chris and I are absolutely perfectly aligned from a list-management point of view and that really was from day one," Watters said.

why am I not surprised....... its StKilda...lol

Some players would be shitty now that trade period and free agency is finished.. Nicky Dal did the right thing.

I feel for Watters though.. Wasn't he on SEN before saying that the president had told him he was there for the long run?

Something not right..

Seaford implodes just a bit more each day

Another X Collingwood assistant bits the dust

If he was going to be sacked on the same day, how could the higher ups let him on the bloody radio to talk about the club? It sounds like something we would have done during our 'red and blueprint' era.

Heard the interview this morning, when I listened to that, couldn't help but feel he was in trouble

As a Melbourne supporter all I can say is thank you to Essendrug, Saints and Lions for making us look not so bad.

wonder if Choco's phone's rung yet ?

Yep I tuned in this morning to hear what Watters had to say.. And basically only a few hours later.. this.. I am absolutely bewildered! I literally fell off my chair when I heard this...

You would be extremely happy if you are Longer, Savage and Co that have just moved there, I wonder if Wellar still wants to go to the Saints.

James Magner could take the job as a player/coach.

He will definatly get a game then

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
