Tom Rockliff

Ok im starting this to take the attention of the Buddy Saga. But been little reports that we have made contact with Tom Rockliff and Jade Rawlings has boarded a plane for Brisbane with a Melbourne logo folder in hand.

Was an article in the Brisbane time about rumors that Tom was not happy with the direction of where Brisbane was heading so I hope we seriously chase him hard. Is up from my way in country Victoria and would make a massive difference to our midfield with now pick 2 on the table. We all know how good he is so im not going to go through the Pros and Cons.

Thoughts?

Is he uncontracted?

Sell the farm!!

Landing Rockcliff would be absolutely sensational.

Rawlings assisted us to land Clark when he was all but over the line with Freo.

Hopefully he can pull another rabbit out of the hat. With pick 2 up for grabs, head room under the cap, and Paul Roos now on board, you'd have to think there's some chance.

Be nice to get there first pick back

Pick 6 is it?

Cant see it happening Olisik but I like the sound of it. Would be an excellent trade

Possibly Rockliff and one of their boys who has already stated an intention to head home to Victoria would be something they would put out as an offer!

Won't happen but it's alright because he is definitely worth pick 2.

Maybe we could wrangle Karnezis along with him?

Maybe we can trade some of our fringe players or a player in association with pick 2 to land Rockliff and Docherty?

Maybe they'll throw in Jonathon Brown too!

2 + Couch for Rockliff + 6 + Brown + Docherty?

Pick 2 and Sam Blease for Rockliff and pick 6

yes I am dreaming

Go Jade! Great investigating if this is true. Rocky's name hasn't even been mentioned in the trade wind.

I would be happy to trade pick 2 for Rocky as well. Dominates the Brisbane engine room and gets touches regardless of where Brisbane are in the competition.

Contracted to the end of 2014 so what would we give up for him?

Lots of people talking about pick 2 coming into play. I'm not sure we'd go there, although the ones with us getting pick 6 back could almost work.

I think we need mids so badly i'd happily part with pick 2 for rockliff even if it could potentially be overs

If we can get back pick 6 we cculd take Crouch to.

Crouch Jones and Rockliff for pick 2 and a Spencer/Gawn/fitz would be a win

Yeah work for us, not them.

Pick 2 would be the only thing Brisbane would possibly consider to give him up. He's there best midfielder finishing with almost 100 touches more then Redden this year. Ball Magnet.

Let's just wait and see if he will even consider us. Everyone here rambled on about Taylor Adams for months and the kid laughed at the prospect of going to Melbourne. We are last on most players list.

lol @ anyone thinking we can trade pick 2 for Rockliff and pick 6

you gotta be kidding me

Pick 2 for Rockliff is a fair trade, why the hell would the Lions throw away pick 6

Love it. Rawlings is heading to Brisbane with a folder that has a Melbourne logo on it and we cream our pants.

This time of the year never fails.

Yep, and Voss played him in the forward pocket quite a few times (much to the angst of dream team players everywhere), which negatively impacted on his possessions.

He's a gun. I doubt they'd do it for pick 2 but I'd take it in a heartbeat.

This is an interesting one because it is more than rumour, twitter feed from some twit, or an anonymous "my brother's sister's boyfriend's doctor's aunt" Facebook post. Rawlings is seen up there on MFC official business.

Unless he is desperate to move from Brisbane, Rockliff is mad to leave. Considering he is contracted I cannot see the Lions letting go of their midfield gun who has 3 year's work in him for anything less than picks 1 - 4.

Two things in our favour.

He knows Jade Rawlings

He would respect Paul Roos (and if the dislocation between Voss and players is real, this is a big plus for us)

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.
