FORUM FOOTY - SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6

Good luck to all the guys and in particular to captain-coach elect Wise.

I've decided that it's time to follow Roosy and start a succession plan. I'm travelling overseas a couple of days after the game and while I'll try to get down to watch, I can't promise full commitment.

Rollo - are we getting waiver forms in from the Bomber Blitz people or shouldn't we mention it? :)

We will keep you to that promise, deanox.

Having professionally assisted deanox in his ankle rehab, I'm sad that he's not available. His ankle may be tested more with Buck's activities however.

As very dubious compensation for his absence, if I'm available I'd be happy to fill the little known and equally dubious role of 'playing Physio'. Availability currently unknown however.

It is coming along great Webber, and will back back to see you as soon as in back in town (travelling with work); I think I'm a little bit passed my next planned appointment!

forgot to mention that hards, cactus and freak are permanently unavailable...

hards was the captain/coach in our very first forum footy game. He played up front and led us to victory against the sainters.

Up to then, the sainters had dominated forum footy. Thanks to hards, doggo, cactus, freak and many others, we dees have dominated forum footy since 2005.

Freak was the first of our run and carry guys. His controversial goal against the sainters set up the demonland dominance. Then, we called it demonland/demonology.

Just 3 seasons ago, we ran out of challengers and demonland played demonology, with a narrow victory to demonland. Given the recent demise of demonolgy, this will never happen again.

Cactus was perhaps the best player to ever play for us. An agressive forward, he averaged 4 goals a game. I remember one game (it might have been 2008) when coach redleg banished cactus to the backline after half-time because we we so far ahead...

Best wises to these 3 guys...

I hope the current batch of playeres can keep up the tradition, and make their own history...

Why do I have to live in Sydney? So would have loved to play in this.

Likewise. Perth is a long way away.

Making plans to come over and play next year.

Better news today…

DeeM, a veteran at age 19 or thereabouts, is now 70/30 and melbournefc is a chance …

And the press gang ( wise, rollo2 and tassie dee) are out knocking down doors…

webber ,we can all see what your trying to do

but playing physio will not be a payed position

if you want any money for such position you must apply in writing to the treasurer

How's our gameplan looking? Any prospective positions yet?

Hey, Django...

from long experience ( we have been undefeated since 2007), we have learned that nothing can be planned until game day...

People who promise to turn up don't arrive...

People who say they are unavailable actually turn up...

People who we have never heard from turn up and win games for us...

If you search on the site for "scotty's little brother's little mate" you will see what I mean...

On game day, we will have a whiteboard. The players who turn up will be entered on the whiteboard. Captain/Coach Red Fox will decide on the starting line-up/starting positions.

Rollo2 will organise the rotations from the bench.

After that, it's just mayhem.

Just a question, Rollo.

Is it just standard rules applicable to forum footy or is it modified in anyway?

Hey, McQueen...

I feel like I am on talk-back radio...

This question has been asked for almost a decade, and the answer is always the same...

Female players may not be tackled, although they can be tickled, which usually brings the pill back into play...

Youngsters (under 10's) can be held, but not ridden into the ground...

Our umpys are AFL/VFL standard, so all the normal rules apply unless you are female or under 10...

(hasn't been a female or under 10 player for some years)...

Cool. As long as you're allowed to take hangers over the 10 year olds I'll play next year. Edited by McQueen

The pies had a female play last year and she had a red hot crack and she had teeth. My plus 1 is confirmed if needed.

You're on to me Jazza, however no pay means no liability, so when I relocate all those dislocations but only end up with life long nerve damage........not my fault :)

I have agreed with scotty21, the bomberblitz organiser, that the team that has to play two games in a row is at a real disadvantage.

Last year, we played the dons and won.

But then we had to take on the pies with only a 10-minute break.

The "pies" consisted of a dozen fresh players, supplemented by the best players from bomberblitz.

We lost that game, and only won the day on percentage.

So, this year, the umpys will supervise the toss of a coin to see which of the 3 teams has to play 2 in a row.

Regards to all,

Rollo.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
