Member Appreciation week

Got an email from the club about "Member Appreciation Week'

Seems like a reasonable idea to try and keep members involved in a totally crap year.

I know it is the last home game but it could be a dismal game on Sunday as the culmination of the week of prizes etc.

It is not just the MFC but a general AFL "members appreciation week". All clubs are doing something.

Members appreciation hey well a win would be nice appreciation!

Prob asking to much though

A most unfortunate title.

Has anyone else filled out the members survey yet. There are a few interesting questions and im sure they will get some honest feedback.

anyway the prizes look interesting. I would be happy to win the dinner at the wharf. I think if I won tickets to the b&f Id give them back. Dont think I could stand to be in a room where the players will be clapped and they will talk about the poor season and next year will be different. Beside we all know Jones will win it and so he should.

Just wondering has anyone received their members "name" guernsey for this weeks game against Freo. I am still waiting for mine.

I filled it out.

Pretty sure I scored 0 for all on-field related questions. Well I'm not gonna lie.

Nice to be appreciated, now go out and win for us.

I saw no point in holding back or papering over the cracks. As far as I see they want to know how we feel. I accommodated this inquisitiveness :)

There are some things done well...and then there is the on field.!!!!

I hate East Fremantle (WAFL), South Fremantle (WAFL) and Fremantle (AFL) so I would appreciate them all getting smashed on the week end.

I was at the Fremantle Corporate Function a few weeks ago (when they played the Crows) and they were laughing at us and said no one wound admit to being a MFC Supporter after our 122 loss to North Melbourne.

Its time to put these upstarts back in their place, pity our team is so bad.

received today

Yep I pretty much scored us a 0 and also I rated the board and administration pretty low as well.

I have spoken to a number of people who have done the survey and to a person they reflect what you have stated above.

I guess it is an annual survey but I think the club would be expecting the obvious result.

When you have the horrible year on and off the field that the MFC has had in 2012 and this year any thing less than a lot of criticism would be a surprise.

The only thing that will improve the situation in 2014 is getting people on the board who are competent, a good management team and then winning a few games.

Seems simple but by our efforts over the last decade show it is difficult for the MFC to achieve.

I am not holding my breath.

OD you will find most of us have answered the same way, but if you bemoan the last decade remember a lot on this board are members who have rights, most have sat on their hands for the last decade, so basically we got what we deserved

Not sure I agree with that Satyr

I think the majority put their faith in people and that faith was not rewarded.

e.g the board, at no stage over the last 7 - 8 years was there ever the opportunity to vote for board members.

Now did I stand for the board?

No because I had neither the money or the required skill.

But I don't believe the average member got what they deserved.

I liked lefty round. It seemed to me like the AFL were taking the [censored] out of themselves for constantly having 'theme' rounds.

The interviews were all facetious and Cloke was blaming being a lefty for his terrible goal kicking. The Luke Hodge ad was pretty funny too.

I thought it was a rare instance of self-deprecating humour for the AFL.

Mine came Thursday

Would that be your State or Federal member Moon?

Closer to home. My local member Bitter.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
