I'm not usually moved to Demonland during a game but this is just pathetic. The majority of players are showing no urgency but I question their fitness - do we do any sprint or agility work or is it just the slow middle distance running that we did all through the last two pre-seasons?? Not sure I'd want to be Dave Misson right now, he's one of the highest paid fitness blokes in the AFL and our fitness has gone backwards enormously in the last two years

Hard to even call this group a team just do not work for each other and hardly see anyone run hard enough.

OHHHHHHH Geesus save us please from having to watch this crap

Panic ridden. No one want to take it on and kick a goal. Very crowded forward line, as opposed to GWSs which is open and fast. The rebound off our half fwd line is killing us. That and the lack of midfield pressure. Grimes, Trenners, Silvia, Tappy look like 33 yr olds, not young fellas.

Was it Watts?

sylvia i think, pederson was calling for the handball off toumpas but didnt get in a demanding spot, he should of ran hard ahead into space for a handball or worked to get over and sheppard so he had time for a shot. toumpas should of just nailed it when he hit the fifty.

Toumpas and Clisby are having shockers.

Watts ,Tappy,Gawn,Viney keeping us in it.

Pedo is all over the shop.

Looks bad but I expect us to get our sheet together in the next quarter.

If this doesn't happen I have prepared the cyanide tablets and a will.

Half time summary:

  1. Watts looks like he'd rather be a tea party with the in-laws
  2. Toumpas is too slow
  3. Someone should tell the players you dont get points for spectating or for 'attempting' a tackle
  4. We should put the umpires in some dees jumpers because their currently our BOG
  5. Save your hair and sanity and flick to the Richmond and Hawks game... but you and I both know we'll flick back after half time

1 goal in a quarter in perfect conditions against GWS

Jack VIney must hate most of his teammates, he fights tooth and nail while 15 other blokes stand around doing nothing

Is Sylvia playing ?

Had a good first quarter and his play and bounces through the guts created a couple of goals.

Second quarter makes me think he should start his own franchise: "Where's Wally Collin?"

Living up to his reputation.

i blame Dave Misson for a lot of this by the way

Came to the club thinking he was some sort of genius who would change everything about our training, and all he has done is destroy all our players fitness.

We never had a problem with fitness, we were running teams off their feet in 2010 and 11'

Misson you are a tool.

Viney is one of the few that will put a block on for a teammate or run hard to be the next option in the chain.

The majority of blokes are playing individual footy, including the two Captains.

My god. The commentary is almost as bad as our "football".

Shut the [censored] up about Jeremy Cameron!

"Jezza" if you are Luke Darcy .

Seriously Darcy- you are a complete tea-bagger.

I've been a defender of Trenners but unless his performance improves drastically next half he should given a run at Casey.

Can't say I am shocked. It's hard to get angry too. I knew we are god awful. It's time to lay down the guns and raise a scotch.

Having a scotch with you Cowboy. I don't believe winning this game has any value to the club We know we're crap. We know we are on a par with GWS. Beating up on junior players means nothing. Losing to them means more IMO

The only hope this club can muster out of this year is a new experienced coach, free agency, trade, the draft and a priority pick. Losing to GWS will help the club to get a very good priority draft pick, hopefully a mini draft or pick one.

A Roos will sell hope, and allow the club to sell hope to free agents and prospective trades.

Hopefully the development program will start to develop our youth too. Roos and the AFL informs the footy world the the MFC will get concessions therefore will improve from next season. This season was gone after losing round one to Port.

Lazy flogs. Toumpas doesn't believe he should be out there. Physically he's terribly weak. Shocking core strength.

A group of players that have no belief in themselves, or their teammates. Season can't end quickly enough.

So many duds that aren't up to it.

Viney has been going to ground a bit too much. Great he is fighting to get the ball but pointless is you go to ground and turn it over because of an ineffective disposal.

Tappy and Sylvia are busting their balls to keep us in it.

Watts, Gawn,Viney also.Spencer is trying as well.

The rest are watching the game or not involved.

What if we took a few of our players out of our overcrowded forward line to allow some room forwards to lead? Perhaps instead of all running forward they could just man up in the mid field and actually put some pressure on the end to end rebound they seem to get every time. Oh that's right, Melbourne don't believe in manning up...... Or kicking to a target.

We have just been bombing it long into the forward line as an excuse for attack since the Neitz days! Sometimes wonder if Howes once a week screamer is just rewarding and reinforcing a style of play that went out in the 70's.

Disagree, we ran average teams that weren't willing to chase off their feet, but the moment we came up against elite fitness were destroyed.

Your kidding. After all that half your critique is that Viney goes to ground too much. Very low on our list of issues.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
