Actually, you're starting to sound like Caroline Wilson, WYL. What if Essendon isn't found guilty on Monday week?

Will you still say they "systematically cheated a WADA CODE"?

Yes i will, and there are other clubs involved.

We all know they did it. If they get off on a technicality my views won't change

O.J. was guilty. I heard the full recording of him smashing down his door. But he got off.

You know how it works Mr Whispering.

I am starting to think James Hird is a sociopath in the mould of Lance Armstrong.

It happens...that's why they invented the 'tall poppy syndrome' to try and deflect criticism and deeper investigation.

It's probably a good lesson in why hero worship and placing people on a pedestal is not necessarily the best approach. Unfortunately some of our leaders get caught up in hero worship, in football circles this is known as 'liniment sniffing'.

Bomba Thompson has swum completely under the surface during this whole issue apart from his interview!!

Astounding...

I'm just gonna say it.

There is an air of [censored] about these impacts on his physical health. He looked and seemed to be carrying himself just fine, and all of a sudden it has become too much for him to handle, health wise? Pretty convenient excuse. The bottom line is that he is fleeing the sinking ship and dressing it up as the best thing for the club and himself.

I'm also more than slightly bemused at the Essendon players on twitter, turning Evans into some heroic figure who is the "real victim" in all of this. The man is no martyr, nor is he the real victim. He's resigned in disgrace and has overseen a period where lengthy bans could result for for these players rallying around him. The club has let them down, badly, and Evans was in charge.

The Skase /Bond defence? I didn't even know I coached the Bombers.

But Chemist Warehouse is keen to jump on. So swings and roundabouts.

KIA was apparently mentioned on 3AW.

I heard that Swisse Vitamins is about to dump the AFL as a sponsor due this saga

they probably dont appreciate the competition !

I think Evans is the victim in all of this.

Evans was just trying to do what is best for his players, then he came up against Hird - who is trying to do what is best for himself.

Sorry but I disagree. Evans is not a victim in my eyes. He was the chairman at the club not the cheerleader. Jumping ship early makes him out to be a victim but it is like saying Schwabb was a victim of us tanking.

it was reported that he wasn't happy with the alleged doping that was going on.

Could this mean that the players may now turn against Hird and that maybe some Neeld like performances are on the card?

well its suggested if Hird goes he would follow which in Thompson speak means the opposite.

When will we turn things around ? its been 7 years, you got NFI they have loyal dedicated fans, FMD they have double our member base, there worth something to the AFL and were treading water thinking that PJ will fix it up, if we have have 3 more seasons like this one you can kiss this club goodbye, people wont keep forking out membership dollars to see to 2 wins a season.

You mean the tens of thousands that jumped ship during the Knights years? Turn it up.

Just as Carlton's membership suffered through the draft pick penalties, if Essendon cop similar, they will be in the wilderness for years. When they are up and about again though, they'll smash us for members.

More to come. As I've said from day dot, they are ****ed.

We can only hope. But turn against golden boy? I can't see that happening.

Gee I can now. I think the poster who made a connection with Armstrong may not be far off. Or am I just hoping that. Mixture of both.

Lance eventually admitted he was a cheat ,to his credit.

Don't you mean Oprah's?

That's the thing Biffen, if it turns out he knew or was complicit, he's finished. It's a big gamble.

Don't you mean Oprah's?

Perhaps Karl whateverhisnameis can be James' Oprah

Something tells me [censored] Barrett will try to get in there first

My feelings as well Cards. I would go further and say that Id walk a little taller if they were removed from the comp. Hate them. Smug.

One thing for sure - they'll have to reshape Hird's 'oh what a feeling, Toyota' ad to include a drug den

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
