hardtack 11,104 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Josh Mahoney on trade radio sometime this arvo Just tweeted he's on at 3pm
demoniac 1,337 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Perfect time to trade him as his currency will never be higher. We have enough tall forwards so he can be used to help us bolster our midfield depth. Has the versatility and athleticism to play as the Forward who can also go into the Ruck. With Interchange Caps and Subs that versatility is a pretty important. Who else do we have for that role. Mitch Clark could do it but he gives great value as a permanent forward. No Deal.
ThreeOneSix 954 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I can't take Terry Wallet seriously on the trade radio. Mahoney is now on.
Deestroy All 14,266 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Seriously, Jed Lamb has a brother called Sean? I love their parents.
old55 23,860 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I expect we won't be able to magic up a suitable deal for pick 2 - it needs to be youngish class midfielder with a very strong go home factor that we can attract ahead of other more successful clubs by paying double. Normally I'd this that's too much of a long shot - but the arrival of Clark, Hogan, Viney in the 2nd round, Dawes and Roos in the past 2 years gives me a glimmer of unreasonable hope.
The Song Formerly Known As 6,479 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Mahoney: "Sylvia to give us answer in next 2 days"
The Song Formerly Known As 6,479 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Mahoney- "Assessing pick 2 talent at draft, and asking clubs what they would offer for pick 2. will work out whats best for us and go with that."
The Song Formerly Known As 6,479 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Mahoney- "havent progressed far with Shaw, past an enquiry from us to his management."
The Song Formerly Known As 6,479 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Mahoney- "if a player has been in the system for 20-30 games and his 24-25 yeas of age that would be pick 2 worthy. We would want to use pick 2 on a player that would be with us for 8 years."
The Song Formerly Known As 6,479 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Mahoney- "Adams won't talk to us due to us being not a desirable destination" (paraphrasing).
Arrow 1,257 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 **** you Taylor Adams. Taylor's a girls name.
The Song Formerly Known As 6,479 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Mahoney- "highly likely we will give up pick 2"But he won't name a list of players it could be on, very hush hush.
ThreeOneSix 954 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Sounds like we are moving on pick 2. Mahoney states that it's VERY likely we will trade it.
Arrow 1,257 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Pick 2 is HIGHLY likely to go! Huge news and very surprising. Roos is backing in our young talent, and clearly doesn't rate Aish too highly. Watch this space.
The Song Formerly Known As 6,479 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Mahoney- "the successor to Paul Roos will happen a little bit after the trade period finishes." (para phrasing)
Bitter but optimistic 22,289 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Thanks for the excerpts Song!
Rocknroll 1,010 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Wallet was talking up a trade/ pick swap with trade 2 so we still get a first rounder. Maybe the have eyes on a kid in the 10-16 pick range but can double up with another young (20-30 games) gun.
ThreeOneSix 954 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Wallet was talking up a trade/ pick swap with trade 2 so we still get a first rounder. Maybe the have eyes on a kid in the 10-16 pick range but can double up with another young (20-30 games) gun. It makes sense to trade pick 2 for a player and a mid first round pick. It's an even draft where pick 2 could be just as good as pick 10-16
The Song Formerly Known As 6,479 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Wallace- "With pick 2 you would expect melbourne would get a star, or a star on the rise."Barret- "Plus a pick back as well, most likely another clubs first rounder." - "It sounded like the MFC have already planned who they will target and have set the wheels in motion. You'd have to imagine it'd be a contracted player." (paraphrasing)
beelzebub 23,392 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Just worries me whenever Barret opens his mouth, noting ever good really comes out.
The Song Formerly Known As 6,479 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Thanks for the excerpts Song! Cheers for the updates Song and co. All good, may as well do something productive for my "other family" in my school holidays.
What 18,810 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Great to hear Maybe we can have a prediction thread to see who is closest to the pin My prediction - Melbourne trade pick 2 and 20 to West Coast for Andrew Gaff and pick 6
dazzledavey36 56,279 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 The feeling I got out of that interview is that we are already in fair advanced with a club or player and close to getting a deal done with pick 2. Will be interesting to see who though. I mean you wouldn't just say its highly likely we will trade pick 2 when you already haven't got someone in mind. Anyone else get that feeling?
