We've actually been courting Roos since 2002.

All he was waiting for was a 30 goal loss, Todd Viney's son to debut and a dwarf to be set on fire.

The planets are aligned.

Don't forget Richmond making the finals, that one's special.

RF is a Foundation Hero, the staff are excited.

And you don't have to question the veracity - I will vouch for RF.

I've also just nkw followed up with my girlfriend, who has a friend on the Melbourne staff.

He passed it onto her this morning.

Why hadnt she told me yet?

"Oh, I kinda... forgot. It doesn't really make any difference, you know he's coming anyway!"

Really have to congratulate on PJ and the club for daring to dream, targeting the best coach on the market and making it happen, with these blokes in charge i have faith this terrible era of the MFC is now behind us.

Great News Dazzle. I don't doubt what you are saying but is the time line right? If so that would mean that Schwab and Mclardy would have made the initial approach, or am I reading that wrong.

Nope AFL got in first.

When PJ was contacted regarding the job of Interim CEO the AFL already told him that they sounded out Roos and would assist in any way to get him back coaching again. Andy D is a massive Roos fan and believed he was too good of a coach to be not in the game. Somehow the info was leaked to Tim Sheahan and we may never know how.

conservative timid atitudes to growing the club reap the same results... conservative timid results. 48 years & counting........

.... well done to last years drafting team, & a big well done to the AFL, & to Peter Jackson.

Thanks DD36. It's interesting that the AFL was concerned enough to make the approach to Roos as early as round 2 and yet the club was seemingly content with Neeld at the helm.

what did they say on triple m?

They just said maybe friday could be the announcement. They said they wouldnt announce it at the b&f because that is all about 2013. So basically dont associate roos with 2013.

But they said by the weekend it should be confirmed.

To be honest I'm happy with anything that prevents Lynch commentating games on TV. Maybe we can find roles for Brian Taylor, Luke Darcy, Tony Shaw, Dwayne Russell, Hamish McLachlan and Basil Zempilas.

They're all required for the mission to Mars. Andy Maher is the co-pilot.

I agree. He's switched on. He'll coach to our strengths.

AF can you please advise what they are because I have struggled to see many the last two years.

Andy D has not always been a massive fan of Paul Roos.

Didn't he accuse Roos of introducing a brand of football at Sydney that was dull and boring, or words to that effect?

If I remember correctly, it was the year that Sydney won the premiership.

Yeah.

Tell them how to play footy and it still isn't working for them - it sure ain't the coach.

He said they'd never win a flag playing like that. It only took them about ten more weeks to put that prediction in the can.
