Just hire the best. It is irrelevant as to whether they have worked for us before.

I would highly doubt it anyway.

The late Jim Cardwell aside, I reckon I know the answer to this and it would certainly set the cat amongnst the pigeons. Or squab.

Craig Cameron > Barry Prendergast if that's where you were going.

But for the uninformed we replaced Prendergast last year with Jason Taylor from Collingwood who was still contracted so Viney headed up recruiting for the year (possibly with Taylor involvement I suppose).

At this stage Kent, Matt Jones and Terlich all look nice finds to go with Viney and Toumpas. There's a lot of debate about Toumpas but we all realise he'll be a player if he gets developed right we just have to not panic. Clisby from the rookie list goes ok as well and we gave away a pick for Hogan. Now that's 7 names, 3 of which are best 22 (M. Jones, Terlich, Viney), 2 of which should be next year (Hogan, Toumpas) and 2 (Clisby and Kent) look pretty good. Not to mention Dawes who we traded for.

Hope springs eternal but we have to hope we've got some improved recruiting.

The failures stem from the prendergast years. Last year our recruiting team was depleted, however their late selections of Kent, jones and terlich were first class. The addition of Jason Taylor (Collingwood valued him highly and refused to let him go until the completion of the most recent draft period) gives me plenty of hope. This is one area the club has right.

You might laugh, but I reckon the best recruiter we had was C. Schwab. Got Viney, Warren Dean, Spalding, Steven Stretch amongst others over a two year period from interstate, and they made a massive difference for us in '87. Perhaps he should have stuck to a career in recruiting!

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
