Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Dom Barry is a long term prospect that need to develop his endurance and work ethic

If you don't have a good enough work ethic your going to struggle even at Casey

He does seem to be lazy which is typical of a player who plays in spurts and goes missing for long periods

That is just down to a lack of fitness and endurance

The plus i see with Dom Barry is when he gets involved he looks like everyone else is stuck in time

One of those that makes the game look that easy is a keeper for mine

Being able to do that at AFL level will determine if Dom's career is 5 games or 200 games

I really hope Dom comes on and it sounds like he has some great attributes. However Casey twos isn't a great start - someone on an AFL list should be at least playing VFL firsts consistently. Especially as he is 19 and we are halfway through the season. It's clear that he has a lot of work to do and I hope he takes it up a few notches so that he can have an impact at the top level. If he doesn't, I suppose it isn't a huge loss as we didn't pay much for him.

What rubbish.

Having watched him at training and Casey more than a few times, lazy is NOT a word I would associate with him.

Needs to work on core strength, endurance, and awareness, but has a fine work ethic.

Agree with you 'stuie' and one of the things that appealed at draft camp was his endurance running so he has the tank to build. He goes missing because he is a kid trying to find his way, to me it is the confidence to impose himself on the game. If he can do this then we have a player.

He did ok for Casey on the weekend, had a bit of a purple patch in the 3rd qtr going on a couple of long runs and did really well with a 2nd & 3rd efforts. When he gets involved he looks good he just needs to be involved more often. I think in time he could be a player.

I think Barry has shown more in the run and carry stakes then Bennell and Jetta ever have. Barry has more speed than both of those guys and looks to be a genuine line-breaker.

Why must some always take the view that every player that is like a player who has previously failed to live up to expectations will also not live up to expectations? It's good to be realistic, but no need to be negative all the time.

Not sure that siting Bennel as a comparison does much for Barry pm24.

Give the kid a break surely he will be better than that!

I think you need to re-read my post. I am actually saying that Barry has already shown more than Bennel ever did. Surely that's a positive comment not a negative comment.

Sorry pm24 I was actually trying to agree with you but did not come out that way.

You will get over that Bennel phobia at some stage I hope 'old dee'.

I doubt it rjay!

There are a couple with their hands as replacement but I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt till seasons end.

I suspect you know the ones I am thinking about.

Lucky enough to have a chat with Dom in the stands before queens birthday game. Concentrating on putting on weight but feels he's gotten stronger and improved his tank even at the cost of a little speed (nb was already elite endurance) was hopeful of a game this year but saw it as development. Commented that he'd already put on 5 kg and it was all very structured and going to plan. Loved playing around Hogan.

Asked him what the coaches wanted from him and answer was basically a young Davey, who he obviously loves.

I think you blokes smashing him will be pleasantly surprised eventually, but you're all a sick masochistic lot so whatever, this post was for those that actually cared for his thoughts.

Edited to make it sound like English.

Thanks for the insight mordja. I actually believe that we are doing much better with our player development in the last two years, which has been proven in the number of debutants that have come in and contributed. I have no concern about Barry. Everything I have read about him has been positive and I reckon in 2 years time he could be a permanent fixture in the best 22.

The thought of he and Blease breaking lines and sprinting down the wings is one thought that gets me pretty excited.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
