I would much rather a few of the other guys had the confidence to take the game on like Terlich.

Sylvia? Really? Ran around the outside of packs, 10 direct turnovers, kicking efficiency about 50%. Flashy goal in the last, 3 quarters too late.

Viney, Dawes, Howe, Garland , Gawn and Sellar get pass marks. The rest, not.

The Herald sun summed it up for me with the following - Jack Viney played his best game for the club, Matt Jones kept trying and Gawn again showed something, but that was about it.

AFL standard
Howe - Our best. If he could kick straight he would bag 5-6.

Gawn - liked his game. Big man. Has the edge.

N.Jones - tagged again. No one cuts out his tagger to help.

Sylvia - showed why he is in our top 5 players. Frustration let him down.
Viney - tried but flawed

M.Jones - classy disposal. Our best rookie this year.
Strauss - showed some run and carry. Nice goal. A keeper.

Terlich - trier

Tapscott - showed some grunt. but also fumbled too much

Frawley - was he playing !!
McKenzie - hmmm - bereft of skills
Dunn – trier.
Garland - holding back a tidal wave. trier.
Sellar - trier
Evans - trier
Kent - overwhelmed. trier. leave in to get some games into.
Dawes - no one at magpieland cried when he left. One effort player.

To be omitted:
Spencer – 2nd rate. VFL Dev squad.
Bail – ohhh. Back to vfl. Fell over. Missed tackles etc etc
Nicholson - dumb and dumber and dumb and dumber 2
Byrnes - VFL standard (drop)
Davey - limited and flawed. Missed 2 easy goals

Dawes ?? pushed off the footy. One effort. Poor elbow swing. Tried to mark on chest not hands. he was poor.

Thought for limited opportunities Dawes kicked some nice passes that had the forwards leading to the the ball. He took a couple of marks, contested a bit, and fluffed a few. For first game back, I'd give him a 'pass'. Lots of room for him to improve. Nice if players could kick to his advantage.

Call me crazy, but I've found myself agreeing with Bluey on one point tonight.

Howe plays like an absolute millionaire; best player in the U-7's.

If he could bring some variety to his game, it'd be a breath of fresh air.

His one 'screamer' today: made it look harder than it was.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
