NO FIRE IN THE BELLY

Pederson and the coaching panel need to realise that he is the missing tall from the backline. Once that decision is made, Pederson has a future!

Maybe, it is the position he played well at Casey in the game he want back. He doesn't have a future as a forward/relief ruck.

i would really love for Dunn and Strauss to have good games. I'm sick of liking the look of their names on the team sheet on a friday arvo but cursing their name come monday!

Geez Blease must be getting frustrated being in then out. I know when he gets the ball he can run so fast into attack but yet when he is defensive he never finds that same pace. I noticed it last week, But I still think he is some value.

blease might have been close to a run off the half back flank i reckon. His pace would be handy for chasing the lads formally known as Satanta's little helpers

It's the position he was impressive in when he first joined the Kanga's. He has tried to make it as a forward because it was part of the deal to get him here (IMO), he has kicked some handy goals but it would be a win/win if he set his sights on CHB. He has the height, size and leap to be a very good spoiler on tall forwards.

Just tweeted by MFC...

Ins: Dunn, Strauss, Spencer, Viney, Kent, Nicholson.

Out: Davey, Jamar, Rodan, Blease, Watts, Pedersen.

Savage, but fair. Suspect Rodan has played his last game in the seniors, for us or anyone. Perhaps equally true of Davey.

Pedersen will no doubt go back to Casey and remind us why he won a VFL B&F last year, and Blease will pick up 20+ easy possessions. Shame that they can't bring it to the big league on a consistent basis, at least for the moment.

Would have preferred Davey or Blease over Nicho but If Nicho is the sub he could be good to have in the midifeld come the last quarter.

Nicho is more of a small defender, suspect he's there with Carlton's small forwards in mind.

Quite happy with this week's selections [from what was offering] with the exception of dropping Davey for Nicholson. Davey has been good off-the-bench this year and is more likely to produce a couple of freak goals than Nicholson is!

Our only chance would be to restrict scoring, hence Nicholson's inclusion as a running defender.

Disagree. Sellar can play that role better and offers stronger depth. However, if we add another tall down back, we're too top heavy. The three lynchpins are Frawley, McDonald and Garland. We need an elite user by foot, say hopefully Strauss. That's how Josh Hunt played in premierships. Soft as butter one on one, but if the defence work together, they allow a rebounding player of Strauss's apparent elite disposal to set up attack from defence. Obviously the other three have rebounding ability too. I think we also lack another small defender with pace and an ability to run with speedsters like Rioli and Gartlett. I think I've probably digressed far enough though.

Nicholson for sub please!!! Strauss has earnt his spot as the small defender to take one of Garlett and Yarran and was top 3 in agility in his draft year. He doesn't have the speed of Nicho but he is quick enough if smart enough. No one can stop the two Carlton blokes through speed, has to be done through smarts.

Liking Strauss, Evans and Tapscott on the bench, gives us someone to bring on for each segment of the ground and still have a number of forwards who are part of the midfield rotation.

Dropping Peterson and going in without a recognised tall forward was a gutsy call. Let's hope Howe and Gawn can force contests when required.

Hopefully something will click with his mentality then. I'd keep dropping him. One way player at the moment. Yes, he offers run, but may as well be a witches hat going the other way.

Not sure he would have been much use though. He doesn't work the other way.

Tommy Mc needs the competition for his spot, he's off the boil this year and can't take it for granted because of a good season last year. I know he had an interrupted pre but we can't afford to carry him.

Sellar is probably a better option on the monsters but Pederson may come into the mix a well. Horses for courses.

He might get that chance next year with Hogan, Dawes and Clark up forward. I wonder if that spells the end for Sellar? He still can't cement a spot in the senior side. Still early in 2013 I guess.

Agree, RE: competition for Tommy Mac. I'd give him one or two more weeks to run into some form and then it might be worth playing Sellar instead for a few weeks. Just to ensure he doesn't become complacent. Obviously, you're then flirting with a player's confidence, but if he's to make it, he'll stand up.

Only in the Australian cricket team and at Melbourne is dropping players a sign of messing with their confidence. I fully believe if McDonald has another bad game we drop him for Sellar and let him get confidence in the reserves playing for a strong Casey line up. Now in and out week after week screws with players but a drop, return to form in the reserves then back to the seniors to show off their improvements is only a good thing. Especially when a player is on a hiding to nothing playing off an interrupted preseason in a rubbish team!

There might be something in your suggestion. As it is this is the worst bunch of ins and outs I can imagine. Have any of you commenting on these given one minute of consideration to the Blues team. Please tell me who plays on Warnock when he goes forward. Who plays CHF? I think Dunn will have to, there is no one else. We are 2 talks short unless it drizzles rain all day. I think this is absolute surrender.

I see some dill thinks we wil win. My suggested losing margin is 134 points (approx)

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
