Neville Jetta Report

What are the bets on how long he'll be rubbed out for?

I liked some of the things he did today, but it was a pretty dirty bump which I think warrants at least a 2 week suspension.

Don't mind if he gets rubbed out, we need more aggro, even if it's a bit dumb to start out with. We need to have a bit of a dangerous edge for a change.

While I do agree that I'd like to see us have a harder edge, I don't like plays like that. A good, clean bump is fine, but Jetta left his feet and made contact with the head after the ball had left Whitfield's boot.

doubt he will get more than 1 week - I think he has a good record and Whitfield was fine

Good on him I say. We NEED danger, would love for opposition players to have to look over their shoulders when playing us.

Kind of agree, whilst you are no use to your team when you are on the sidelines, sometimes you need someone to take one for the team, a bit like the young Hawks under Clarkson decided to draw a line in the sand and Richie Vandenburg stepped up to show they weren't going to be pushed around anymore. On the flipside GWS and Whitfield in particular are hardly as physical as the Bombers side of that era

Stupid stupid actions by him. Well after ball had left the area jumped and left his feet and collected his head. 3 weeks but reduced for good record.

In saying that he was good today in parts disappointing he can't build on it for a few weeks.

I don't want to see it all the time, but just enough to keep the danger element.

I don't care, it's better than seeing some of our players not so much as bend down to lay a tackle. Jetta goes hard and refuses to lose a contest. If that means he get suspended sometimes, than so be it.

Next time, go for that gutless [censored] Scully.

I hate what Tom Scully did as much as the next guy, but I wish our boys had the guts to run as hard and as long as he does.

He had lost that contest thus the late high report...

I can't believe what I'm reading. People are commenting as if it was a cheap shot!

It was nothing of the sort. It was a poorly executed but warranted bump. Yes, it was late, and yes, it contacted the head, which is going to draw the MRP into play, but it was a perfectly fine thing to do, and he was well entitled to lay it how he wanted. He hit the head, he'll cop the consequences, but it was accidental and right on the ball, just a tad late.

Leave him be. He was one of our best today, and he showed the aggression we need from all 22.

Cop 3 down to 2.

Jetta has flummoxed me from day one, I must see him differently cos he seems to pick and choose when he chases or attacks the ball.

I honestly don't know why he seems to be pumped up on his site.

It was great to see someone play with some intent. I have waited for a while to see someone play with the commitment of Byron Pickett and it's about time we had someone who could frighten the opposition players. A brief suspension is well worth the price if it causes the opposition to look over their shoulders in the future.

The only thing I was disappointed with was the lack of support from the other players.

Surprise, Jetta went in hard and hit someone... When they weren't looking.

Hope he gets rubbed out, he's hopeless anyway.

Anyway though, happy days, great last term, awesome to finally get a win

12 possessions, 6 clangers, 3 frees against

One of the best

Neville is one of the few who can get his own ball ,win contests ,and then kick to the right spot .

He can tackle ,chase and have an impact .

I rank him to be one of the first few chosen every week due to our lack of little men with heart .

Has he played long enough to earn a "good record"?

Am i imagining it or wasn't he reported or suspended at some stage last year or the year before thus eliminating the good record discount.

Happy to be corrected.

Think it will be adjudged a 2 week hit with a loading making it 3 but an early plea bringing it back to 2.

hmmn, terrible, Rodney Grinter, eat your heart out...

we need more mongrel than just one player, buy at least its a start. even if a bit uncouth... however I thought the GWS player acted after realising what happened & then fell to the ground.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
