I like Don, but this release reads like a club under siege.

No encouragement at all really.

I would have liked a repeat of the "we will defend the integrity of the club". Also, a proper invitation to the AGM and some general excitement when looking forward. But I suppose that is not so easy when/if things aren't so up.

well spotted there.. WE ARE UNDER SIEGE !! where have yo been lately.

About the only thing Prik has got right in the Aged of late is that we WILL keep our powder dry til we have the kill shot in our sights. Until then its still a game of wits and guile.

Nows not the time to telegraph your moves.

Gave us nothing again

What do you want him to say......A good poker player keeps his cards close to his chest....Does not change his expression.....Gives his opponents nothing.......Until he has won the game......Some people want a running summary.....I trust the club on this.....I would rather be kept in the dark as a supporter and have the club win the day rather than to know exactly what was happening and lose....

He's not a lone poker player, he's the head of a club that relies on supporters. I don't think anyone realistically wants legal insights, but some kind of encouraging words would go a long way for the suffering lovers of MFC.

"Encouraging words"???......It might make you feel better but may not be best for the club at this stage I would have thought.....

It's not in the best interest of the club for members/supporters to feel good about the club at this time of year when the membership push starts?

I think you're missing my point a bit, I don't want any info about what we're doing/saying about the investigation, just some kind of positive message.

Thank God the Don's the President and not some of you mob. They've just put the submissions in and this week will be a very very important one for the Club while the Commission review the submissions. For the next week frankly, we Supporters are the least important part of this equation. Acting in a way that makes the Club as small a target as possible for the Commission and for the Press is the only way to go for this week. If the Commission come out and charge them then the Club should remain a small target until the hearing. So far the AFL have treated these matters as a press circus. Everything going on with the Tippett issue was in the paper before any of the hearings. It was a disgrace. So much for natural justice or the right to be heard.

This isn't just about the MFC. This is also about three servants of the Club who by acting with the Club's interests at heart at no benefit to themselves, in fact against their own interests, find themselves fighting to save their own careers. Spare a thought for Bailey who whether he was good or bad, acted with throughout to develop the team for the long term not for the short term to get wins to save his job. He is having to fund a legal battle of massive proportions with only some financial assistance from the Coaches Association. I hate to think of the cost of paying top lawyers to forensically read through 800 pages of evidence, then conduct hours and hours of interviews themselves then write extensive responses. And he's not at the Club. Same goes for Connolly who only ever acted with the Club's interests in mind.

I for one are happy for the Club to say no more than has been said. I suspect we are in for a long drawn out saga on this one.

Having to spend $100,00's of dollars in legal fees to save their careers.

Although I was a little disappointed that he gave us nothing, the more I think about it, the more I think that he said all he could say. The only glimmer for the supporters was the promise that we would be kept informed - which hints at a change in tack as soon as the AFL shows its hand.

He has already said we will fight it - and to re-state that would be to imply that there is something to fight. It might also have inflamed the AFL - "we are not going to be pushed around by threats".He also had to be careful not to give us false hope,

We've had to suffer all this time - a few more weeks isn;t going to hurt given what is at stake. He has done the right thing.

You guys don't seem to be grasping what I'm saying.... I don't need or want any kind of insight into what's happening, and it's obvious to everyone that would not be a good move. But membership is VITAL to us and it's a critical time of year for it. So, something along the lines of "all of us as supporters are going through a tough time, but stick with us as we are on the rise as a united football club" from the prez would go a long way to heartening a club often called passionless and irrelevant, without inferring anything related to the tanking investigation.

It's a blance, Stuie. And that was patently a straight bat.

But of all the times we are going to give a short 'straight bat' of a Prez message. It was this week.

Let's get effusive and effervescent when we have avoided sanctions and/or large legal fees.

make up your own happy message stuie. I do not want my club to say a word until the AFL respond to what has been sent to them.

NOT ONE WORD.

Happy with The Don's work. The man to fear before a fight is the man who says nothing.

Buh ...

The man to fear is the hyped up pcp-head whose just got released and is a raging 'roid junkie.

The man saying nothing is just avoiding getting his head clean knocked off.

Fear the man saying nothing...life is not a clint eastwood movie.

No, the man who says nothing is the man who is listening, planning when is the right time to have his say.

More fearsome than a man waiting patiently in the shadows with his eye staring through the sight of a precisely aimed sniper rifle?

"Finally, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the 22,500 members who - to date - have either renewed or joined us for the first time in Season 2013. Your support is vital, and we thank you. To those who have not yet renewed, come along to one of these events and experience first hand the enthusiasm and determination of our team I am sure you will want to be part of it."

Pretty positive really.

Dirty Harry: "Well, we're not just gonna let you walk out of here.."

Punk: "Who's we sucker?"

Dirty Harry: [slowly drawing out his .44 magnum] "Smith & Wesson... and me"

I'm sure there's someone around who could adapt it to the current situation

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
