  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'll renew my membership this week. Back in Perth after 4 years overseas. I just wish the club did a specialised interstate package. Works out better value grabbing an armchair membership and buying tickets. I know it gives you access to 5 home games, it's just a pity it's not more flexible. A package that offered say 4 tickets that could be redeemed for any game in Melbourne would be better value for money.

fair points. I have never redeemed 5 home games in a season, but the price is reasonable

Old Dee say what you like, you wont't upset me old chap, LIverpudlian and ex military, been there done that, got the t-shirt, it wasn't an aspersion, you were casting doubt on the figures, my answer explained the situation, ring the Tax Office and dob the Club in on their dodgy membership figures, we can always blame Cam Schwab. I don't fawn. Why do you keep revisiting everything, what do you want, are you going to take any action to rectify the problems that you say exist. Noboby makes you go to the games, yes it was horrible last week, but that was last week........

I am going to stop here neither of us want a slanging match certaining not me.

I will reply to two things.

I was not suggesting you fawn I was saying I don't fawn.

We all read into any comment what we want to see.

The membership numbers are not the major events of my life just made a small joke with H-T.

Now lets get on with returning The Dees to a competitive unit.

Just realised, the Demonland backup mishap that happened last week has wiped a few posts off here, one of them was the big march 31st update!

This number is good i feel, given the situation.

Would love to get to 35,000 members this year.

It's funny when the Dons were amidst their peptide crisis (which i guess they still are) the supporters responded by buying memberships, attending training sessions and games, sending out positive messages to players etc.

And us? Well we do everything the opposite.

I know our club is inept in so many areas, but i feel the membership area is one area where we should really throw our support behind the club.

Get a membership, and get to the games!*

*cue generic response of "i'll buy a membership when i get my moneys worth from the players and coaching staff blah blah blah" etc.

Heard a good joke on the radio this morning.

" I was walking through the MCG park land this morning and I saw a Melbourne member nailing his membership to a tree outside gate 3.

So I took it you never know when you might need a good nail"

Now laugh guys it is a joke I think!

The post above from HT reflects our membership after the Round 2 thrashing by Essendon.

Since then, we have added about 2000 new members.

No matter which way you look at the numbers, it doesn’t augur well for next year.

We’ve been lucky to crack 30,000 this year, and even with a miraculous turnaround in our on-field performance in the second half of 2013, we will struggle to maintain that number in 2014.

Next year’s numbers could easily dip to the 25,000 mark.

On a positive note, of the additional 2000 who have signed up since the season began, more than 600 of those were signed by the 20-odd volunteers who have been assisting the club every Monday and Tuesday evening. It’s a sensational effort.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
