We'll be top of the ladder after Round 1. And out the 8 for the rest of the year!

Posted

I'd be pretty disappointed if we lost this game - PA have never beaten us at the MCG - lets keep that tradition!!

Go DEES

Theoretically they did in 2007 but I recall that game was rigged with some farcical umpiring denying us victory, after which I completely lost the plot (forgot now what it feels like to get worked up at the footy). Good to see you've corrected this shambles in the record books.

Hopefully in the top 8 for the first time in a while!

When we drew with Sydney in round 1 last year, we were alphabetically in the 8.

Looking forward to losing and having my hopes for the season dashed again.

Easter Sunday - mmm...

Will definitely go to church that morning and say a few prayers on the side for the Dees. Gobble down a quick lunch and head off to the G.

Easy.

Sounded like good news.

Until I found it it's on Easter Sunday. In the early time slot. Right when many people are sitting down to lunch.

Gutted. I love going to Round 1. It's typically one of the few games of the year where we're not behind in the win-loss ratio, we have new players/recruits/list/strategies, and there's genuine optimism. I'd have loved for us to open 2013 with Viney, Dawes, Byrnes et al to a sizeable group of our fans.

Meh, so we miss a few thousand extra against Port. Only the hardcore supporters generally turn up to a game against them at the best of timeslots, so save the 'good times' for a team where it will make a difference.

I hope this doesn't mean the majority of our home games against interstate sides again.

RM I do not care who we play, where we play them, what day or at whatever time of the Day or night.

If we win then it is a great time and place.

Just win games in 2013.

Agreed. We're not going to start getting a good fixture with Friday night blockbusters until we are good enough to have earned it. The fixture is designed to maximize revenue for the AFL, and currently we are not a team that will do that. As a result we'll get a lot of Sunday afternoon and twilight home games against interstate sides.

So does this mean the darwin games are now off? It isnt a bad thing. Id rather play port on the G.

I was thinking the same thing.

We always host Port in Darwin.

Would be surprised if we don't sell a game next year considering we're not exactly a financial powerhouse.

Maybe we host someone like Gold Coast or GWS up in Darwin next year?

That would be an unmitigated disaster. We'd jeopardise the 4 points and a healthy percentage boost. If we have any brains, we'll strongly request a game against one of the Perth teams up there since we do the AFL a favour by sacrificing a home game to play there, albeit for cash. I'll be livid if we play an expansion team there.

I wouldn't mind GWS up there. They'll still be easy beats anywhere.

It's the Gold Coast that will start to be a tough side to play against.

I swear if we field a injury free best 22 and lose to the power it might well and truly be the end for me

We play Port Adelaide first up next year at MCG - good news!!!

shouldn't it be "good news" we play PA at the MCG round one.??

couldn't give a rat's [censored] who we play round one. Brinng on Hawkers I say! HST A home game is preferable and V a club that DRAWS.... PA ISN'T going to draw is IMO is a wasted MCG clash. In a nutshell a Blues, Bombers , Swans or Hawkers type clash would of been the medicine.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
