The following is an update from the HS:

Clint Bartram's ongoing experimental knee surgery is still being monitored, while Jamie Bennell's knee reconstruction is progressing well and it is hoped he will be available early in 2013.

Max Gawn's knee is fully healed and he's right for a full pre-season, as is Aaron Davey (foot).

Cale Morton (shoulder) will be on a modified program until Christmas, while key forward Mitch Clark is progressing well with his foot injury.

Jack Fitzpatrick has had a post-season ankle "cleanout".

Good news re Gawn and Davey.

God help us though. Cale has had ANOTHER "injury interrupted pre-season" and so will underperform again next year. They'll probably sign him for a further 2 years on the back of that just so that we can see what he is really like when he eventually gets a full pre season. After all Miller was gifted 130 games so Cale has a way to go.....

Interesting about Bennell. Wonder whether he'll get a year or 2 contract extension, or whether the club are just doign the right thing by him until he might be delisted. Out of all of the players im most interested to see what we decide on his future - on one hand he is still quite young, has good skills and pace and is always one of the best trainers during preseason. On the other hand he has never been comfortable at AFL level, yet is at VFL level. Do teh FD think he can make the step up?

I wish Morton and Bennell all the best for their health, but it shouldn't be of importance in the scheme of the club as they should not be there next year. Seeing as it is unlikely we'd get anything for either of them, their health shouldn't affect potential trades.

Great news about Maxy and Davey, hoping to see them both back to full capacity on the field asap.

Just to add to the good news about Maxy, the following extract from his 2012 player review on the MFC website sounds promising:

"..... He’s gone above and beyond what the Club’s expected of him, not only with his rehab and his recovery, but with his involvements with the Club - his DeeTV, and his capacity to work with other players and try and get the best out of the whole Club, not just himself. His body has completely changed from the way it looked twelve months ago, he’s in a position where he’ll be able to start full training when we come back, and already he’s - we’d estimate - thirty per cent ahead of where he was at this time last pre-season. So, he’s really set himself up this year. .............."

Aaron Greaves (midfield development coach)

Fingers crossed, we have seen the last of his knee problems.

This is probably not going to surprise you DemonWA

Bennell is not AFL standard he has been at the club for 4 years has played 57 games and 6 in 2012

In 2012 he had 31 possessions i.e an average of 5 per games and 2 tackles per game.

The fact he only had 6 games from the Neeld FD suggests he does not have their confidence.

The Guy is not an AFL player. He only displays average ability at Casey.

Please the experiment is over for JB.

Brilliant News on Maxy.

Improved 30% on 12 months ago.

Does that mean he is 2.7m tall

and 130 kg.

Yes! ...Yes!.... Please tell me Yes!

Whatever you think of Cale Morton, it needs to be recognised that his pre-season injury issues in the past two years have come at the very tail-end of the summer, just when he needs to be ramping up into match mode and getting used to game plan changes etc with his teammates.

I'm sure he and the coaches would prefer that any interruption to his preparation comes now, when it can be managed in conjunction with others, instead of in late February. This surgery might actually give him a better chance of improving.

Nup I reckon the exact opposite because it was the shoulder area it remains questionable if he is able to push weights to anywhere near what he ought to to build up those arms of his which resemble chicken wings at best. If anything it will put him further behind the eight ball.

You're assuming a bigger upper body will be an instant fix to Morton's woes. I think he would have the same issues he's currently enduring whether he was 75kg or 175kg.

I reckon he would be much better served by actually playing some footy with his teammates in an environment (practice matches, NAB Cup) where he can build confidence in his ability again - and his teammates and coaches can regain confidence in him. That's what he's sorely missed over the past two years.

Sorry to disappoint Chippy, but I think they are saying Maxy's fitness levels / strength are +30% on where they were at the beginning of last pre season.

Davey has been your avatar's namesake this year.

Should get used to enjoying the drive to Casey fields in 2013 with the signing of Byrnes.

C'mon Old Dee nothing sours the taste of a single malt. I suspect we're going to be drinking a little more next year as we celebrate a few more wins.

Go Old Dee!

I'm aiming to stretch it until September. I'll be saving a nice Laphroigh to sip whilst watching us play at least one final next year. The Lagavulin will come out for the celebrations for Mark Neeld - Coach of the Year and I'm sure I can round up a drop of Ardlour for Mitch Clark's Coleman Medal. A few nips of something light and airy, something from Speyside perhaps, will do for Howe's Mark of the Year. I might be struggling if we go any further though.

Well Crawf i did not realise what an authority you are on single malt.

Anyone any time Crawf on your list will do me.

I normal swing between Glenmornagie , Glenfiddich and Laphroaig when I am in a "different mood"

I hope I need more bottles next year mate.

Is there anymore info on Mitch Clarke? Anyone know just where he is at?

He apparently tweeted that he has started skipping and the physios are happy with his progress..

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers braved the rain and headed down to Gosch's paddock to bring you their observations from the second day of Preseason training for the 1st to 4th Year players. DITCHA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I attended some of the training today. Richo spoke to me and said not to believe what is in the media, as we will good this year.
