WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES

Recommended Posts

Yes. But if Wellingham does not like the terms he will not go.

He did not get the offers he thought he would.

Wellingwho isn't the be all & end all.

IMO I'd like us to use all our first 3 picks on the draft. Class/kids.

Use the rest to bolster our resources.

Sydney says hi.

Sydney weren't trading top 5 picks though. In the last nine offseasons, guess how many top 5 picks have been traded. One - for the best player in the game at the time, Chris Judd.

I'm not against getting players from other teams, but we have to build smartly.

Why does Dawes find it so difficult to take marks? Did he have some sort of surgery to his hand & eye???

Would be nice to have a safe pair of hands inside 50, considering the limited amount of entries.

Mike put Jones in his top 50. He's not wrong all the time.

The hawks had picks three and five when they drafted buddy and roughy... Imagine if they traded out 5 to us for yze and robbo, and we got buddy, who would've won that trade?

yes.....imagine! But that is all we can do.

Sensible Pie friends of mine who see a lot of their team and are not the toothless rabble you see on the box rate him pretty highly. They say a hand injury this year troubled him and he did not hold enough marks but are hating seeing him go.

I listened to the SEN link, and let's face it, MS wets himself over Natanui's highlights reel and seems blind to the many things NicNat does not do so his view of Dawes is not the final word. He ain't the almighty.

I am still keen and it looks like he might go relatively cheaply. We might get lucky here or we might be masking a Pederson move. What do I know?

When we picked up Clark every announcer had there opinion that he was not worth the money and would not bring anything to Melbourne.

I do agree we may have spent a little bit more that what he is worth but he was the only tall forward available at the time and Melbourne did what they had to do to get him which I applaud them for that.

After the half a season he played for us a lot of the critics changed there view on Clarky.

With out Mitch Clark we have No Forward line, we need a player like Dawes.

Mike Sheahan has some interesting views on Dawes. In a nutshell, can't understand why we would pursue him

http://www.sen.com.au/audioplayer/Audio/Herald-Sun-columnist-Mike-Sheehan/6145

The interview is about his top 50 but in the last couple of minutes he's asked about some player movement issues

Heard the end part of this interview where discussion was focussed on the possibility of MFC getting Dawes. I had no idea who was being interviewed at the time but was amazed at the way the person being interviewed was reading my mind about why in the hell MFC would pursue Dawes.

When Andy Maher thanked Mike Sheahan I threw up a little in my mouth.

Dawes was overrated in the good times at Collingwood and then underrated and heavily criticized this year. Typical of Collingwood and the media hype that surrounds them. At some point this year the media jumped on his every mistake. He has played a role at Collingwood this year that no one has ever successfully done, Ruck and CHF. He was undersized in the ruck and had the demanding role of bi locking and dishing off the to smalls and running players. In other words, either badly coached, or that just decided to use his body. My feeling is badly coached.

I would use him an a fair more aggressive way at Melbourne. Let him attack and take the game on.

Greg Denham seem's to think its a done deal with Cam.

Can we stop quoting this guy? He doesn't know anything. The Aus don't employ your football lovers that talk about players virtues to he point of absurdity (Age) and they don't have bottom feeders hanging outside of players houses at going to absurd lengths to get 'the right info' (Hun).

The Aus just employ opinionated flogs that have little idea how footy is played and just like howling at the moon over how much the game has changed and how the have little idea how he game is played. Denham and Smith are a waste of time, unless you wish to howl with them.

That's true, they are both the most annoying guest on SEN. They seem to think they know everything about everything.

The common thought is that welling ham will go for a second round pick meaning Dawes would be a late 2nd round of 3rd...

Anymore less than that and we are paying overs especially considering his year and effectively his value should had dropped

Have to agree. The alternative is a player swap. It appears Giles will stay with GWS. Martin's value will then increase for Pies who are looking for a mobile ruckman who can spell forward. Maybe a swap of Martin for Dawes.

Again any more than that and you are paying overs. We will get a compo pick for our loss of FA's, possibly at the end of the first round but probably in the second round and that could be part of a deal for Dawes.

As far as I am concerned 3,4 & 13 are off limits for Dawes. Those picks are reserved for real talent not just a big body.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
