Assuming there is a possibility that Rivers is out what is the deal with Richmond's Grimes? I ask because the brothers and whole family are MAD Melbourne tragics and I wonder whether a trade could be possible??

would be good, wouldnt it

The younger one is a gun

I still think we got the better one :)

The older one is too - you wait and see :) And isnt there about 3 more brothers>?

Actually yes, there is 3 more brothers.

Grimes gives the handball to Grimes, Grimes boots it long, Huge mark by Grimes, handballs to Grimes.. GOAL by Grimes

good team play haha

I am Jack's sponsor and I bounced it off him casually at a function. He said it would be great to have his brother with the Dees but couldn't see it happening.

Why would he leave a club that has been good to him to come to a club who could have taken him but didn't

and on comes the sub Grimes, early call by coach Grimes...

I'd like to think so, as I wanted us to take the punt on him in the draft. I thought back then that we would be going thru the restructure of our defence back before he came into draft contention.

He seems the honest type to build upon. I doubt the Tiges would want to deal now.

Seriously can't believe the amount of negativity there was towards the option of Drafting young Dylan a couple of years back - there were howls of he's no good he's the dud little brother and we're sick of getting the NQR brother, skip forward 2 years and now people want him badly, oh and similar garbage was touted about Butcher and now we want him... I can't keep up with all changeing of minds

Richmond will not let him go, period. He has been excellent for them this year and will be a gun for them.

Should be keeping an eye on the younger ones though, good footballing pedigree! Did they all follow the Dees? (Oh yes I'm opening that can of worms!)

hes a solid backman

Hes nowhere near as good as Jack

I was also disappointed when we let him go to Richmond late in the draft. Alwyn and Aaron Davey would have been better players in the same team too.

Never understood why we let Grimes and Davey go elsewhere.

Has it completely slipped through to the keeper that another Grimes brother is in this year's draft?

Just remind us all again (before I slash what is left of my wrists yet again) just where did Dylan go in the draft and what superstar did we pick before him?

Their whole family live out North east and are diehard Melbourne supporters.

Has it completely slipped through to the keeper that another Grimes brother is in this year's draft?

Who? Background?

All Richmond supporters love him and he is good but he has been injured both years since his draft. I would love to get him but i think Jack would need to put in a good sell even though he was a demon as a kid ect

All the boys are good footballers.

In fact the younger ones are better than the older ones.

So just imagine how good number 5 will be in 6 years.

Fits the criteria of 'driven to be the best football he can be'.

Would be a useful addition, in practical terms.

I'd the thrilled if we got him, and surely with the sheer volume of movement out of our club, whether with handshakes or arse-kickings on the way out, we could find an equivalent offer for Richmond?

The younger ones are better than the older ones.

Like the Chappells, the Waughs and the Danihers? (Trevor, who remembers, and Chris)

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
