Update on Jason Taylor?

Im not sure it would be this black and white ( pardon the pun) . For a start we have two perhaps three high picks ( depending on Viney) this year well before the pies. He may be asked his impression on the picks we are leaning to as they wouldn't be around at collingwoods pick anyway. Or, if we were deciding between 2 or 3 players in a late pick, he may also be asked his opinion. I dont think there's too much untoward in any of that and it would be naive to think we wouldnt be interested in his thoughts.

Also, I may just add that this is the rod COLLINGWOOD created for itself by making him stay another year as assistant. We shouldnt have to be TOO careful in this situation. We need to be respectful...but not overly so.

Point well made "Wells" although the late picks may be a little more black and white as they will probably fall in Collingwoods area.

It also may get a bit iffy at the top end where trades and picks are involved.

I do agree that Collingwood created this situation, respectful on our part is probably a good call. We can't expect him to be our silent partner in the draft.

I know what he was, that was my point, when first hired it was regarded as a 'good thing'...but also when he became recruiting manager it again was regarded as a good thing......I just love the coveting that goes on on this board....MFC are hopeless at this, that, the other, why can't we be like Geelong/Pies/Swans......as another poster said in another thread...why some continually stick with a basket case of a club that is so obviously the MFC at the moment, is beyond him (and me)........is there anything that everybody on this board is happy with that the Club has done?...doesn't seem to be....should rename this board Demoncarping or Envyland

.can't wait for the bagging in a couple of years time if Taylor decides to join us and one of his high picks 'fails'

Clearly when anyone is promoted it is hoped and expected they'll do well; and you wouldn't hire someone in the first place unless their football reputation was good. But it's also no guarantee they'll make good choices.

Please dont panic, this guy is an absolute gun recruiter who's work ethic is second to none. Eddie Maguire wouldn't release him from his contract before this seasons draft because he knows what a very good recruiter he is. He will leave no stone unturned covering the land for the best footballers across all leagues. Great pick up for the Dees!

Well he can't do much worse than our most recent (excluding Viney Snr) recruiting manager.

I take that back. He can't do any worse than our most recent recruiting manager.

I'm excited about JT. A recruiter who is from a club with very good recruiting history (recently). The club needs a recruiting culture change too. Maybe JT may not have given away information regarding players in this years draft, but he may have contributed to the 4 pillars.

He departed Collingwood following the rookie draft and has officially joined Melbourne.

Terrific scalp for the Demons to get him on board.

I'm sure the Demons will get something up following the christmas holidays office closure.

Thanks Deebest. Just briefly what would the Assistant Recruiting Manager's tasks be during the year. How does it change in the top role? I have always been interested as to what they do over a year when football is only played for part of it.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
