War about to erupt between Richmond and GWS

Mike Sheahan said on last night's On The Couch that war is about to erupt between GWS and Richmond because of overtures made to a GWS youngster. He didn't name the player but he did say it was one of their top 10 picks from last year. The Giants have re-signed a number of their young early picks but this sort of thing is inevitable when you have the likes of Voldemort picking up a cool million a year and providing a substantial meal ticket for his old man at the same time.

I hope all of the other clubs including us start circling GWS for their talent and I would be targeting Dom Tyson early in the piece.

Do you mean Rich are circling GWS players or vice versa? And aren't their picks from last year on standard 2 year deals, which means they are still contracted? GWS can refuse to part with the player.

I thought we'd all agreed not to watch OTC any more??

If Mike said it it must be true...unless you miss-heard because of the background noise on that weird set last night...they looked like Early Roman Kings...

Lets for a moment suggest that something he said was actually relevent then why shouldnt GWS be subjected to the same torches.

Just as an aside given they played in that kiddies development league or whatever it was for a year before coming to play in the big boys sandpit, then those drafted in '10 are up for grabs ? if OOC ...correct ?

So the Toiges are hunting... good on them,. Shove it up Sheeds and his cronies.

Boot, other foot huh Kev ?? lol

Richmond are setting up a GWS player at the end of next year to come home.

Don't tell me the Tigers have offered $cully and his dud more money.

Not a chance in hell.

Good on the Tigers too, anything that brings pain on the Greater Western Scum.

Hold your fire on that anger against GWS. It may lessen or increase after the trading period and father /son selections have been concluded. They could do a nice deal with us or shaft us.

Mikey, Mikey , Mikey - you are a stirring naughty little boy. But, are you suggesting Victorian kids would be hard to keep - especially the good ones? I like the thought.

next year ?? uhhhh ... I see

just as a question though.. A kid drafted in 10 would have his 2 years up now wouldnt he ?

Mike needs a name ... I think Dom Tyson is the target of the Tigs

Could be big Patton!!! Pay back time for the Tigers. What goes around in football comes around. B)

That's ceratinly what their forums suggest

With Choko Williams now at Richmond, they are well placed to lure young GWS talent next year.

Maybe 'cos they named their B and F "Sheedy Medal."

Good on the Tiges, why aren't we doing the same?

Maybe we are.

Don't have to agree. I don't buy pay tv on principle.

Pay TV, if most take it, will kill free TV, & will end up as a monopoly, & become way too expensive, & it's too expensive now.

Do they have a signed AOU?

First time I'll ever support Richmond (or another Victorian club).

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
