Brent Moloney Departing MFC

I have read it.

It's plain f$&@ing selfish Stuie. It's got nothing to do with doing your best. Simon Presty 2010 GF is what i mean.

Please understand before one of us dies.

We're going to have to agree to disagree pal.

We both agree he shouldn't have played, we just disagree on who's responsibility it is to judge a players fitness to play.

Let's leave it at that and shake hey mate?

I didn't even bother to address that bit as I think it's just plain silly to suggest someone wanting to play when not 100% is selfish. It's quite the opposite in spirit.

What if Beamer had infected the rest of the team? If you're sick and there are others to replace you, then working is likely to damage the health of your team, as well as reduce its effectiveness. Have you ever tried to do physical exercise when you're sick. You suck at it, plain and simple.

Even the 40th player on our list would have outperformed Moloney that day, so he was extremely selfish to not drop out.

Geez Stuie have a look in the mirror

Too much handsomeness for me to bear there... (jokes mate, just trying to not start too depressed before the game...)

Thankyou Chook. Exactly the points i have been trying to get across.

Why do we even have a team doctor then?....

Look, WYL and I are trying to put this aside as it's an old issue and we're banging our heads against each other, so let's move on hey buddy.

It's ingrained in footy culture to "soldier on". To play when sick or injured, to get up after being knocked down, we applaud such things on the field. it doesn't always pan out, but it's part of an AFL players build to be this way.

There is a reason why players putting team first and saying they are not right to play in finals are applauded. It is one thing to carry injury or illness it is another thing to be so ill that you cannot touch the ball in a half of footy. One is courageous the other is selfish stupidity.

Huh, it doesn't say much for the Dr's & the footy dept.

If he indeed he was that sick, or is it just a convenient rumor spread like it's suggested that the Cooper Cronk comment is unsubstantiated?

If he was that sick that he didn't get a single disposal, then Surely it would have been easily noticeable to all in his vicinity pre game?

I'd put Stuie on ignore, but it's futile. His posts are quoted so often you'd have to suffer them anyway.

Moloney plays like he has O.P. Tries his guts out but his body wont let him.

He had O.P when he first came to the club.

Come on Benny, don't be like that, we need to get some love in the room before the depression session tonight.

Hey guys - absolutely nothing happened today.

Have this misguided and childish to-and-fro in October...

That's when I am planning to have mine!

he may still stay. Stranger things have happened.

After tonight's rabble, you might well ask why would he stay if he has other offers?

Moloney's always been a one-dimensional player which is why he can beat up on crap teams but goes missing when the heat's on and other teams are able to put some time into him. He's been good for us for the most part without being really anything special. His bigger body would be good around the clearances but it's once he gets the ball that is the issue. He is too lazy to be able to run hard both ways and spread to create options which is necessary in the modern game and rarely hurts the opposition by going forward to kick goals. Would like to keep him on as a depth player (28-35 on the list) but realistically he won't want to play out his career at Casey and will want to move elsewhere to a club that can give him regular senior games and possibly finals (Sydney?)

So I'm not too upset he's gone he's never really given any indication he is more than an honest toiler and never any indication he is willing to put in the hard yards to evolve his game.

If Moloney is one dimensional, then what is Jordy who has from reports been offered 3 years???? I really am starting to wonder about "Neelds" strategies at this piont!

Well maybe Neeld has said to Beamer we want you to stay but on less money and this is the role we have for you, you need to trim down and get to more contests. Maybe Beamer through his manager has said "nup I'm beeta than that, heaps of clubs are gunna want a gun playa like me and I'm gunna see where else I can play".

Maybe we have no idea what has happened internally and we never will. Maybe the club went to Jordie and said we love want you're doing, we love the work you put in here is the reward 3 years on average money cos we want the things you bring to the table to stay around.... Maybe the coach wants players who do what is asked and the coach believes is required and if you don't then you might want to look else where.

We can afford maybe one one dimensional player - not 22.

I do agree to an extent but Jordie is not on $450-$550K per year and is at least prepared to run hard and do the team things. if Moloney was on $250k per year I'd keep him but not for half a mil.

The club has been pretty good at recognising that Jeff White then Cam Bruce were on their used by dates.

They are probably letting Beamer vent & scramble for the exit door as we 24 months off being a serious contender. And we will be!!

Sorry if someone has already said this (i just skimmed the last 5 pages of Stuie Vs WYL etc...)

Brock McLean's slump and recent form turn around may be the path Brent needs to walk (or is in fact already walking). If indeed the game has changed to their (Brock and Brent's) disadvantage and they have to adapt, has Brock successfully changed his game, etc..?

Can't stand watching the Blues so I couldn't say for certain...

They certainly have not. White, Bruce, Yze and Robbo all played passed their use by dates. As has Davey.

Really? I have heard many on here argue that we stamped the papers of White, Yze, and Robbo too soon and that we pushed Bruce out the door with our 'contemptible' 1 year contract.

not a good move imo happy.gifhappy.gifhappy.gif

Can you please fix your posted image problems?

Again I have not watched much of the Blus but to see Brock "best on" again on the weekend clearly highlights it can be done. Brock looks very lean and fit compared to his time (not saying he was overweight) at Dees and the 1st season at Blues. Will Beamer be allowed the same chance at Dees if so will he want to stay or will he persue his options elsewhere?

  • GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road again and this may be the last roll of the dice to get their 2025 season back on track as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • NON-MFC: Round 15

As the Demons head into their Bye Round, it's time to turn our attention to the other matches being played. Which teams are you tipping this week? And which results would be most favourable for the Demons if we can manage to turn our season around? Follow all the non-Melbourne games here and join the conversation as the ladder continues to take shape.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • PREGAME: Gold Coast

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?
