Scully's oath to Jim

Featured Replies

Tom Scully swore to Jim he wanted to play out his career at Melbourne just weeks before he defected.

Also got cold feet but had already signed the contract and couldn't get out of it, which I think he was told to do it by his old man.

Tom Scully's decision to turn back on Demons and move to GWS hurt Jim Stynes

"Sources have suggested Scully got cold feet just before the switch but was unable to renege because a contract had been signed."

"Poor character" - better off without folk like him and families like his!

Ah well, at least its out there for those who doubted it.

It doesn't get much lower than this for Tom Scully, surely.

I guess Tom really did sell his soul.

In breaking news, Andrew Demetriou will call a press conference on Monday to announce that the AFL will investigate allegations of poaching by GWS. If substantiated, it is likely that the GWS will be sanctioned by way of heavy fines and the loss of their number 1 draft pick in this year's draft which will be awarded to Melbourne instead.

$cully's penalty is likely to be that he will be forced to remain a Giant for the next five years.

Ha ha nice one WJ.

But seriously this should be looked at if they are claiming that he signed earlier that allowed.

As much as I despise Scully, I'd say his support network (mainly his father) was as much if not more to blame.

I was slightly interested in seeing Scully fail this year but as the season went on I lost interest in him.

Bring on 2013 - the best would result would be picking two guns with the compo picks, I'm sure Jim will be overseeing this some how, RIP.

I was starting to loose interest DD, but not now. I live in NSW where the free-to-air TV broadcast all the GWS games (which means we see fewer other games - curse them). But I have keenly watched all the GWS games for one reason only. I wanted to see $cully flattened (though his hovering around packs makes that unlikely). Failing that I watched with glee seeing his poor form matching his integrity. Now how can I overcome this addiction next year?

I can't help but think the kid had no real support around him from management and his family. If he signed with GWS and didn't really want to it says to me he was only waiting for someone from his support crew to tell him to stay at Melbourne. It looks like everyone told him to take the coin and now we all hate him. But I am caring less and less about Scully as the days roll on.

All anyone had to do for a play by play on what happened with Tom Scully last year was read old Range Rover's posts on Demonland.

More nails hit on heads than at cubbyhouse construction convention.

If he had alreadysigned, doesnt this warrant a serious investigation?

of course it wont happen because they are Vlads love child,

But surely this is even worse than tanking allegations...to sign a player already under contract???

can someone with a digital pass cut and paste the story? im sorry to be a cheap skate but i refuse to pay this 5 bucks a week when i would be lucky to stop and read 3 articles a day the herald sun dishes up, your lucky if u get a melbourne article longer then the two paragraphs and then the rest of the herald suns articles are feel good stories of how cat and a goat have become the best of friends!!!

You actually don't need a digital pass to read HUN stories, just a willingness to take the story byline, type into Google and bring a up a search.

You'll then get a news.com.au version of the story which is readable for anyone.

Tom Scully's decision to turn back on Demons and move to GWS hurt Jim Stynes

DEMON defector Tom Scully promised a dying Jim Stynes he would not leave Melbourne only weeks before he jumped ship, Stynes' widow has revealed.

Why pay the Murdhack press for the journalistic equivalent of a drunken conversation about footy .

Pay to read Jon Ralph or Robbo- get real. Not in this life.

Highlight of Jim's book is how he thought Tom was genuine after the meeting where he said he wanted to stay but Sam said she thought he was dodgy.

The next article will be about how Phil Scully gave Tom his moral fibre and taught him self-respect and discipline .The herald sun writing about matters of truth and integrity is Kieth Richard writing a book on sobriety.

To be honest, I think Scully made the smart decision for his own future.

When would he ever have another chance to sign a $6mil deal?

Not after this season, that's for sure.

His price was at an all time high and he took it.

I thought we always interviewed the family to make sure the kid ha been taught proper, like. clearly failed here.

yea i certainly dont blame him for taking the money i would do the same thing, but what i wouldnt do is lie about it telling the truth doesnt cost a dime

his fat F$#% of a father got him to sign the contract cos he already had signed his one.....its his lack of moral fibre that has led to his son being the most hated footballer around.

I couldn't care about him anymore...but i will still give it to him when we play them,

They must have been convincing liars. He had Jim fooled.

It's not like you can make the whole family do a psych test.

Thank god he did leave as well. Watching him stink it up with us on 800k a year would have made this year considerably worse.

He is so soft and is a complete turnover merchant.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
