You're right, absolute hacks. There were clearly better players available during that stage of the draft. Looks like BP stuffed it up again.

He had a [censored]-eating grin from ear-to-ear when Melbourne's turn came and we didn't call out Ball's name. He knew he'd put one over us and had Ball in the bag (pardon the pun) as soon as that happened.

We can only hope that the new regime can right the ship in time OD, otherwise we may well be looking back on Prendergast/Bailey as the architects of our demise.

Course it was. Broke my heart. I knew he was going to be a GUN foot soldier. Who trains 8 hours a day. What that would have taught our list even before a game

I know hindsight is a great thing any most clubs have early picks that fail but WTF the MFC just continue to get it wrong & when you look at the top clubs they get more right than wrong!

In fairness Tapscott & Gysberts will be good but the other decisions with early picks is absolute disaster!

Will they? I had early hopes but am still not sold on either.

Time is still on their side but as high draft picks they should be having no problem commanding a spot in the senior team.

As it is, both are currently fringe players.

I disagree with the writer's analysis.

It's superficial and doesn't allow for the fact that different players have different rates of development particularly if they have, as is the case with many of Melbourne's recruits, not had the opportunity to show their wares yet because of prolonged periods out of the game through injury.

I accept that some of the choices haven't come up to expectations but there's plenty of room for development among a number of our young players. How many of these blokes have played their 50-60 games yet? How many have had the opportunity to take part in a full pre season?

As for Taggert and Tynan from the 2011 draft, one hasn't been able to get onto the field much at all this year but is highly regarded and hopefully will get his chances next year. The other (Tynan) will definitely be a footballer IMO.

This article is very true but it begs the question......what if we can get all these blokes on the park together at the same time?

If we can have Gysberts,Clark,Tapscott,Strauss,Blease,Taggert,Jurrah,Jetta actually playing some continuous games together

along with the rest of the team maybe we will see some improvement. As much as we have really struggled this season we have

been cruelly hampered with injuries to our younger players really slowing their development. This still gives me hope. If they had

all been playing every game and we were still at this point then I would be even more worried but the fact is we have one of the worst

injury lists in the AFL and being a young struggling side we pay for it even more than others in similar situations.

Jury is still out for Me

I see little so far to suggest they will be more than average AFL players.

One cannot stay healthy and they other cannot get a game when we are desperate for mid fielders.
