Fairfax (The Age) dropping the ball...

The tigers one might just be a play on words considering they were talking about a caravan park? The other looks like a glaringly obvious error.

so we'll make that "Holding the Man " instead ? lol

The editing at the Age has been substandard for quite a while. Not that long ago they had an article talking about a base 1300 km south-west of the South Pole. The notion that The Age is a better credentialed paper that the Herald Sun is sadly outdated.

I used it (The Herald-Sun) to create a lawn-free front yard, it was excellent.

My wife is a grammar nazi from hell and she has been whinging about the AGE for years now, said all the writers/editors must have come from the Herald Sun.

There is on significant difference between the two papers. I know from personal experience that both papers might write a story that criticises you, but The Age journos will tell you in advance what they are writing and give you a chance to respond; the Herald Sun journos do not. Both can be inaccurate, but The Age tries to get it right.

Yeah..........Right.........Dream-on

Then she'd be a leftist grammer nazi from hell.......

Everything about the Age has dropped enormously in standard over the years.

It's journalism in the political and international arena drips with bias and many of its journos are agenda driven hacks who have lost the thirst for a story.

In 12 months time it's going to be dead in the water and I would not be surprised if Caro jumped ship to take a gig at the Hun.

The Age consistently has online stories where paragraphs are repeated in two different spots etc. Their pre-publication editing for online pieces is utterly shocking.

The Age has been in decline since the Syme family walked. Slowly at first. But now it is free fall.

Won't be long now sadly. We need a good paper.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
