It really hurts and depresses me everytime Jack Darling plays well as he did tonight.

Meth Coke conned all of Victoria. He was such a bad boy.

Get some recruiters who do thorough esearch MFC.

HE HAS DONE NO WRONG.

[censored] off with this Jack Darling crap already. We weren't the only ones who passed up on him. He is good, but he also has an A grade midfield serving the ball to him on a platter.

This stuff is as bad as the ridiculous amount of love given to NicNat every time he farts, despite the fact he can't kick. Howe takes better marks anyway.

Enough of feeling sorry for ourselves because we didn't draft every good player ever.

Facts stand The guy would compliment Motch Clark beautifully.

And the recruiting staff of the day have moved on.

The picked $cully & did not draft Darling.

Epic Fail.

I think people have moved on over Scully quicker then Bloody Jack Darling. Seriously move on.

So was I.

More depressing ... I'm pretty sure Nic Natanui is going to become the best player in the competition.

His four quarter effort tonight was something to behold. He can do it all.

This is not to pot Watts, who will be a good player. But we at Melbourne have been complaining for years that we have no 'stars'.

Well ... NicNat's about as twinklin' as a star get get. Breathtaking stuff.

FFS just get over it Cooky seems to be coming on well at Casey and Howe has also been very good. and to bring the Scully saga into it FFS

He wouldn't have complimented Clark in 2011 and would not have had the same impact as at Meth Coast, but Im sure you all would have overlooked that feckin hindsight recruiters

WTF?

Find me one recruiter in the land who would have picked Darling ahead of Scully?

Scully is a certified [censored], but he was wildly regarded as the best junior in the land and by a long shot. Every other club in our position would have taken him, and most other clubs in our position would have taken Watts ahead of NicNat too given his connection to WA.

Darling was seen as a troublemaker with little upside. He also had a very serious head injury before the draft. Plenty others stayed well clear of him.

You want to cry, think Joel Selwood at pick 14, while other clubs think Jeremy Howe, Liam Jurrah, Tom McDonald and so forth. Everyone wins some and loses some at the draft table.

That's not what WYL is saying. He laments both picks for different reasons.

Darling ahead of Cook was a no-brainer and we fugged it up. Strike that. Barry P. fugged it up.

Scully we could do nothing about as we were the victims of an AFL-sanctioned heist.

That said ... we should've at least interviewed Martin. Back to Barry P. once again, they guy who "departed" the club almost the moment Neeldy arrived.

Have these topics been covered before in any Demonland threads?

Vintage maybe E25. But prove me wrong.

Our recruiting has been woefull

We had our chances.

And this is not an attack on Lucas Cook. I wish him all acelades. But how was Darling not drafted? He is the type of player needed????

Really? why then did Darling get passed up 25 times before being selected?

And remind me again what you know about Cook to make this idiotic judgement?

Scully we could do nothing about as we were duped by a borderline sociopath and his money and big mac-hungry old man.

Thankyou RE. Its 2 picks BP completely butchered in consequtive years.

It depresses me.

I'm happy to lament Darling, as every other club in the league probably does. No disrespect to Cook. I think much of the offence is taken on his behalf. He might be a gun yet. Unfortunately, the other Jack (his first name was surely a hint) already is.

Pretty sure I recall Joel Selwood around selection 7 NOT 14

WYL is spot on, we like every other club, stuffed up bigtime not taking Darling.

Fact is the kid is a superstar unfolding.

Don't even get me started on Natanui- Seriously WTF is the go home factor?

Do you honestly think powerhouse clubs like Hawthorn & Collingwood consider that for more than one second?

I mean has Buddy charged back to WA?

That recruiting era was an Epic Fail.

I know that he hasn't played a single game of senior footy while his counterpart Darling is currently ripping sides new a>>holes at senior AFL level. That's what I know.

And why did he get passed up 25 times before being selected? Several reasons. Only us, the Suns, Carlton and WC were in the market for a KPF early in the draft. Every other club went for mid-sized types.

We (like Carlton) baulked at selecting him because we were duped by a classic recruiting sting operation which led everyone to believe he was Ned Kelly incarnate.

Stop making excuses for sh1thouse recruiting.

The excuses make it even worse.

As Meth Coke laugh at all recruiters east of their Border.

Nik Nat was a star tonight as well.

Big Statement WYL you have gone out on a limb and made it without even seeing Lucas Cook fully develop 1 week in footy is a long time let alone 2 years

I have never dissed Lucas Cook. He didn't choose to be drafted to us. We did.

In 2-3-4 years he may be a gun. Hope so.

But the fact remains Jack Darling would assist us now. And this club needs a rise NOW.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
