Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Weak to bag out a guy that swallowed his pride to do what was considered best for us by our board.

Sure, wasn't the coach for us going forward, but at least there were some wins and some exciting footy occasionally, haven't seen any of that this year yet.

Sure he did what he thought was best but he thought it was in his best interests as well remember. It mightn't have turned out that way but he thought but bottoming out heavily and loading up on draft picks he would be building a team primed for a dynasty. Pretty sure he didn't think it would lead to the team being rubbish and him being sacked after 3 and a half seasons. He did what he thought was right but he wasn't a martyr.

Yeah that was Schwab's idea.

Yeah he seemed real happy about tanking for picks when he was fired....

Are you seriously suggesting that someone (Schwab, Stynes who?) told Bailey he had to lose games on purpose and ensure we got priority picks in 2008 & 2009? Are you saying that they told Bailey he had to sack Yze, White, Robertson etc?

Yeah I heard Schwab was on the Grassy Knoll in Dallas in November '63 as well.

That rumour has already been discussed on this forum.

Not sure about Yze etc, may have been the decision of the list manager, but I thought it seemed obvious Bailey was under instructions, otherwise he would not have lasted as long as he had with some of those performances early on, eg: Richmond...

Bailey did say he was instructed to position the club for draft picks. Who is going to call him a liar?

I tell you what, the hole goes deeper than what we all think, I'm not allowed to comment on what I know specifically but...

... but you will anyway.

Source?

It's easy to hide behind a keyboard and claim to be in the know.

If someone inside is giving you info about our list changes at the end of the year, they will surely be looking for employment elsewhere as well.

Loose lips.

I have absolutely no problem with Dean Bailey at all. But i am still staggered that we passed up on Sheeds experience in 2008 and favoured an untried coach.

I know many will disagree. But Sheeds aint finished yet. By next year GW$ will be winning some serious games.

I agree with that. There has been some posts on this forum saying that Sheedy wanted too much money. But judging from his reaction at being spurned it does not sound credible. He was desperate at the time to prove that he was still relevant and sincerely wanted to coach us.

That is pretty much how 2008-9 panned out in my eyes and from what Dean said in his final presser.

I don't think now Bailey was the cause of our problems. It must be remembered we were going along quite well in the middle of 2010 and not much different to where Richmond are now. Then something happened at the club and followed by a steady decline turning into a dramatic free fall. At a time about 18 months ago I thought he may have been the problem for our listless performances but it is clear to me now he has been made a scapegoat for problems beyond his control and I fear the same is in Neeld's destiny.

This is the problem with your postings and mindset in general, Jackie. Fear. You just exude it.

I really fail to see what Sheedy would have done with the wreck of a list provided in 2008 other than roll in a couple of rubbish recycled players a'la Aaron Henneman. Maybe we'd have been a bit better the next year but you'd be on the gear to think that our list in '09 was anything but bottom four no matter who the coach was.

Then it's down to drafting and we all know how good we are at that.

Thanks for bringing it up. I used to be a benign up beat trusting sort of fan up until a couple of years ago, then things started to smell. I think it is a genuine time to fear for the future of this club and not just the coach.

Point taken. But it was the prrfect time for an experienced coach. It is all sliding doors i know. But i shall always wonder what if. Our list is obviously lacking mental discipline right now, something kevin wouldn't have copped.

I am a Bailey fan but he was so raw...so is Neeld!!

If i had 50 cents for the amount of times people ask me," whats goin on down there", when its revealed i am a Melboune supporter, id have $972.50 by now!

I have two stock standard answers for them depending on what mood im in.

1. Its the senior players not pulling their weight...the likes of Sylvia, Moloney and Davey.

2 We are just not good enough

Easy DeeZee just say no.2 until you reach $5000

By then we might be a bit better and they will stop asking

Hardwick came in and changed the culture, line up and recruited players who have been an asset to this years success at Richmond. Going from recent events and the way we have been traveling with our senior players over the years I think its the only avenue we now have left to address.

Senior players make a statement to the younger guys. Whether that would be in the football world or any other working department. You come into an office, your fresh young and you witness the way in which your fellow colleagues who are veterans go about their work. If they are lazy, ill-minded and care more about themselves than the company - that has a domino effect on all the younger and newer employees coming in. I know for sure if I can get away with doing no work evidently shown by others not working I wouldn't do work.

It's not just the senior players down at the club who are in strife, from what I know there are a few players who have questioned Mark Neelds experience and game plan and have been completely shunned by the club this year and consequently have had injuries labelled for the reasoning of them not playing.

It's a negative culture at the moment which must be changed at seasons end.

Hallelujah.

Bailey was [censored], we should've gone with Sheedy. Accept it and move on.

DR. You can't give the 'perpetual culture trophy' to Bailey, because he wasn't there long enough to claim it as his own.

It's been an inbred thing at the MCG-MFC for decades.

Pretty sure he thought loading up on draft picks was the best way to go towards building a premiership list...

It was & is, but you still have to engender some mongrel into them from the leaders who have inbuilt schitt in them. Thats the hand me down we lack.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
