Well Said Ox

To call for Neelds sacking after only eight games shows the immature nature of King

Yep, loved it, I only wear the #5 on my jumpers cos of the Ox, and I did not think I could love the man more....I was wrong!

It is refreshing to hear someone wear his heart on his sleeve and stand up for the Club and show enough courage to bag someone who he works with at SEN. It was interesting that he admitted that he had spoken to many people at the Club from the Board down and all were committed to Neeld and his future plan. He has always said in the past that he did not have close relationships at the Club. I will always remember after last year's "186" he said that he hated where the Club was and it affecting his life so much that he was fighting with Karen (wife). I think it was not long after this or during that period that he ended up having fisty cuffs with someone at SEN. I loved David as a player and the way he stood up for his team mates against those thugs. He is now standing up for the Club he loves. Like we all should be doing.

In defence of King, I listened to him on Fox Footy last night and I think he was having a dig fairly and squarely at the board and administration - not at Mark Neeld - mainly in regard to the fact that he seems to think the board were panicked into action (sacking Dean Bailey) based on media and supporter pressure after 186. Granted he also attacked Neeld in so far as he criticised his game style and man management abilities, but overall I could see where he was coming from. Did he need to come out and say it? Probably not, but he has the right to his opinion.

For what it's worth, last year I also thought the club should have continued backing Bailey and the path he was taking us on, and was disappointed that they reacted so savagely after one loss (granted it was no ordinary loss)... in my opinion it would have been a far gutsier and bolder decision to actually stand by the guy in such a tough time. BUT that is only my opinion and it comes as a complete outsider with no knowledge of the inner sanctum workings of the club. The same goes for David King, as Ox rightly pointed out.

The board's opinion differed and that is their prerogative as a group of individuals who offer their time on a voluntary basis to help steer our great club. Unless I know the full story (which I don't, and it seems not many people really do), or am prepared to stand for the board myself, I am not going to cast aspersions on those decisions just for the sake of having a moan. I can only have faith in the board that they did what they thought was right at the time last year, and also in appointing Mark Neeld as our coach. The board do a fantastic and often thankless job, and I commend them.

I just hope that the next time pressure mounts in the minds of our board members - whether it be driven from supporters, the media or wherever - they have the guts to stand firm and stick to Mark Neeld and his plan. There can be no other way forward, and judging from Don McLardy's performance on On The Couch on Monday night, I am very confident he understands this.

We will come out of this slump, I have no doubt about it. Carna Dees.

Ox - you are a legend!

Please Gazza - bring him down to the club, in an unofficial capacity if needed, to try to impart a bit of PASSION into the players. If even use a little were to rub off we would take a huge leap forward.

It is an honour and privilege to play for the club - Col, Beema, Aaron? Heard of that?

The Ox doesn't need to be bought down to the club.

He is quite able to walk right through that door.

Have a chat Ox.

Why does Garry Lyon have to have anything to do with Melbourne beyond going to watch them play footy every week?

David king is just trying to take the attention away from the fact that his old side gave up a 5 goal lead to a team that has won 5 of their last 20 odd games in 15 min of the last quarter

Well said Ox!

Two great passages on SEN this week from him!

If DK didn't think Neeld was the man then speak up when he was appointed not when we are 0-8!

Cheap pot shots to make a name for himself and deflect from North's recent form!

I think it's a common misconception that Bailey was sacked because of 186 as well as the incorrect belief that we were going well or improving beaucse we had 8 wins. Some of the wins were just ordinary, that may sound trite but it's a fact and if we go back and look at them we'll see many times the oppostion just didn't turn up. King doesn't rate Clarke's goals, I don't rate last years wins!

The fact King doesn't like Neelds game style or coaching for this list is irrelevant to me because this list as it is won't be around much longer. It's been stated ad-nauseum by the club that they want to build a list capable of challenging, not just surviving, King is short sighted and ignorant of what is going on behind the doors.

Why did you start a new thread there is an Ox thread that is barely 24 hours old

Gee did not see it, shoot me.

David King comes from a silly little suburban club that's won maybe a couple of premierships and has very small supporter base. He is deflecting criticism away from that club's problems on AND off the field by going hard against an Australian sporting legend namely the Melbourne football club.

I couldn't give a stuff what he say's frankly.

Can't wait for Kings fickle response .....um well uh....aghhhhh.... what I meant to say was......

Shut up & stick to analyzing you squAre faced Alfred E Neuman lookin Jerk

Its a worry that two radio personalities are self promoting on the ashes of our Club. This just pumps the two media outlets the two people work for. Good for advertisers.

Dont know why we made an issue of King's silly rant. Ox only gave it oxygen.

Must be a slow news week.

Ox is just like the rest of us sick of people laying the boots in while we are down, well done Ox doing your bit to get behind the club. All take note

Bravo Ox! Well said, didn't get carried away hit the nail on the head, King chose to throw an ill-conceived hand grenade miles too early and should be picked up on it. He did the same to Port and the reality is unless you can prove what you are saying is correct all you are doing is taking aim and kicking clubs while they are down, poor form, and btw, hows North travelling?

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
