AFL Employee leaked info about indigenous players

Demetriou picks and chooses who he defends and who he throws to the wolves and he appears to do it under the guise of political correctness when it suits. Does anybody believe he wasn't up to his eyeballs in the Rendell saga? How can you sack Misfud when you're probably the encourager?

Aaron has been very quick to acknowledge Jasons apology despite t Jason having not named names.

What are you implying? I can't see how not having named names is relevant. He said:

"I’m pleased that the AFL has come out strongly in support of Mark and that Jason has apologised to Mark and the club.”

He didn't say that Jason had apologised to him.

From the age a few Minutes ago

Caroline Wilson said she first broached the subject with Mark Neeld three weeks ago, and quickly convinced her the allegations were untrue by passing her onto senior indigenous player, Aaron Davey, who insisted he wouldn’t be involved in the football club if the allegations were true.

”Aaron Davey got on the phone and I asked him all the same questions I’d asked Mark Neeld…. And Aaron said: ‘Caroline, it just didn’t happen. It never happened,’” Caroline Wilson said

That's more or less what was said on 360 tonight also.

Yep

- Mifsud burns Rendell in an article in which he basically lies (quotes him out of context)

- Andy D forces the Crows hand and tells them to sack Rendell

- Thomas is told some more "untruths" by Mifsud and publishes the comments at an opportune time to out Mifsud over the Rendell issue

- Andy D clues on to what has happened and gets Rendell a job before Mifsud admits to feeding Thomas the Neeld rumour

- Mifsud offers his resignation but Andy D refuses to accept it to save his own face over forcing Adelaide to sack Rendell

I, like everyone else on this site, don't know the truth. Many were quick to defend Neeld against the allegations, not condemn him until proven guilty, and accept his denial (as am I).

Why is it that half the posters on this site were so quick to condemn Davey? Now Davey has made a statement denying involvement in the story. Do we give him the same benefit? Davey is condemned at the moment because he is perceived as 'soft' and is out of form. People have decide that he is a 'sook'. We don't know Aaron Davey. We don't know his character. We don't know what's in his heart. I hope that the posters who are so quick to condemn him are equally ready to apologise for the slurs and inferences they have made if he proves to be innocent. I suspect they won't!

Dee-Luded went as far as to say -

"...At the very least the Indigenous boys should front the Full Leadership group One at a Time, to either Fess Up, or explain what or who has said what to Mifsud...said the club should line up the indigenous players and demand an explanation."

How would you feel if you were an indigenous person? You were lined up, and asked and asked to "fess up" or explain to the leadership group? .... You were treated as a suspect BECAUSE YOU WERE INDIGENOUS! Do you realise how racist this is?

I am so saddened and angered by the attitudes that surface when indigenous issues are raised on this site.

This is the problem when you have an AFL indigenous office or whatever he is called. They look for something to do to keep them in a job. And pretty soon it gets murky.

Reminds me of the climate change 'scientists' like Tim Flannery who are paid by the Govt - whoa, guess what? He found out the world is going to fry us all........

And those University researchers in the UK who get 17million pounds a year to research climate! So what if they changed a few emails and alter data to come up with their bodgy conclusions.....

Grow up mate! Climate change is a fact get used to it. Bit of a stretch your comparison.

Well said BTdemon.

A few apologies owed to Davey by a those on this thread who didn't wait for the facts.

Agree. I'm concerned that all this may affect our selection decisions. Many would think that Davey deserves to be dropped this week, but imagine the artificial fuss now if he is dropped. So not only messing with the players heads again, but even with the selectors' heads.

Yep Davey has been slurred as much as Neeld by this whole shemozzle. Nothing like a quiet week to get the boys focussed on the enxt game hey? Wonder what that feels like.

So, was there ANY group meeting of the Demon indigenous players? Perhaps after the Jurrah rumpus. Seems like a strange story to make up out of the blue.

3AW says the 'leaker' is a former player?

Let's just cool our jets at the moment before we burn anyone at the stake.

....well, we could always start with doing a Joan of Arc on Misfit, seeing that Dumbitriou lacks the balls to sack him.

I can safely say that no group meetings ever take place at Melbourne. Ever.

We don't want anybody thinking that we are discriminating against the individual.

Whoever leaked to the media the news that team meetings were held on a regular basis, clearly did not see our game on Saturday.

I simply took Aaron's comments as the fact that he is the defacto leader of the indigenous boys.

FWIW I reckon that Jimmy would weep if he read some of the attitudes on this site. He always attempted to look for the value of every individual. This site feels like a lynch mob sometimes.

That was my initial thought. More likely than the alternatives of a conspiracy or worse. We'll see, perhaps.

whats even a tad stranger is that its more than likely that the brothers have indeed sought each othes companyform time to time..Perfectly ok...and yet outsiders would judge...go figure

This is not about racism, or finding a scapegoat, or harassing a particular group. But the inference was that the ' Leak' came from within about Neeld & speaking to the Indig boys as a group instead of Individually. And they implied there was a racist twist in the Coaches ways.

My suggestion was about getting to the truth, from whoever was the leak, & the first, not the last place, to start asking questions would be from the Indig boys, and from there to the rest of the players. Not hard to start at the most likely first, then work your way around.

If they want to be precious about a method of doing something then we've lost the game of football & have entered politics. I bet thats how the cops would run an Inverstigation. They wouldn't start in the AFL's loos.

I suppose to some extent, this could have had an affect on Davey's performance on Saturday evening if this was already coming to light at that time... if he was the alleged source, then I expect he would have known what was coming. You have to wonder how much pressure these guys can take when all they really want to do is play footy.

I have seen a whole heap of stuff about the game on the weekend and about Aaron's effort. I was at the game and I saw Aaron chase many times like he used to. First time I have seen it since he broke his leg. Did he contribute for the whole game? No. But I think that is standard for fast small forwards. He was certainly putting his all in many times when he ran down several players, and his goal assist to Green was showed he still has some great skills.

Good post. Cringe worthy comes to mind. I'm glad the idiot fringe on this site aren't in a position of power to actually carry out some of the madness they advocate here.

No one has commented on the fact that Vlad seems to know who the person who started this is and evidently knows what they are thinking about it at the moment. So if that's the case, why isn't he coming clean, or the person coming clean. He even seems to know what is happening to them as a consequence of them doing this. He says we shouldnt' assume they have got off scott free. So what is the story. If they don't come out with the person it could cause a signficant amount of damage. Mainly to the reputations of innocent indigenous officials and players if some of the statements on this site are a gauge of the wider public response to this. Misfud has just created a very damaging situation for the very people he is supposed to be supporting.

How do you know who is "the most likely"?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
