AFL Employee leaked info about indigenous players

So where does a club "Indiginous Welfare Officer" (or whatever its called) stand in your definition of racism?

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you but the whole concept of setting up a specific racial support system has always struck me as having a level of paternalism if not racism (depending on definition)

Not trying to start a fight or be controversial, but it just shows the difficulty of defining little 'r' racism

All this Brotherhood and indigenous stuff should be dropped and expunged from the game. Is only causing apartness as in Aparthied. What's wrong with just bein plain old Australian Citizens and one all and all for one?

AFL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT OFFICER: what sort of BS position is that? Presumably supposed to engender harmony - wow, he has done a great job so far!

Vlad is as big a tool and fool as Misfed Misled Mifsud for not having the guts to sack him.........and has the gall to carry on and on about integrity!!

I hope it's not jobs for the boys, & slapping wrists stuff.

Who was that east gippy, I didn't see the News. Was that Neelds response?

This needs to be investigated @ Melbourne, because these types of inhouse/outhouse incidents are not what the club should be built on. they need cleaning up and a good round table honesty session with the leadership group asap, to sort this Cancer from spreading.

Or I'm not a Jimma friend... Guts, "Whatever it Takes".

The ten reporter rodger oldridge in his cross on ten news .

Living in the west and as part of my job I have had a lot to do with Indiginous cultures, personally IMO I don't agree with clubs having IWO'S, or more to the point welfare officers would be sufficient. There are plenty of young men taken from other diverse backgrounds in the draft who need support. Why single people out my understanding is the indiginous players look out for each other from all clubs and I think thats how things should continue and it's up to the playing group to look after each other and club welfare officers to monitor everybody.

In regards to racism it is a very grey area we all know the obvious do's and don'ts but there are a lot of scenarios that are very much borderline

That pretty much covers it

Why start this with a scornful 'Yeah'? You list a perfectly reasonable process that might be followed if certain things are true, but how does that contradict monocular's plea to " give our "senior indigenous player" at least the benefit of any doubt before condemning him". The 'yeah' sounds like you do believe in condemning people based on rumour. I presume you don't believe that, so please cool it.

I haven't condemned anyone, & if you read my post carefully beyond the Yeah! you'll notice that I've left it open that it could be anyone of our Indig boys, or even someone else. But I do believe it came from Inhouse, & most likely an Indig Demon, likely who isn't happy. And when they say senior, it makes one look to the older first, yes?

I don't know who it is, But I'm damn sure we have to find out & deal with the situation before this attitude festers amongst others... Not good enough as it is.

There are a lot of people collectively who have Put in for the MFC going back over One Hundred Years, who deserve better respect than is shown by this sort of selfish ME attitude.

Many have died not seeing their Life Wishes achieved.

We all Owe them.

Dee-luded there are not many in the group ( 5 to my knowledge )

It does not take rocket science

From the age a few Minutes ago

Caroline Wilson said she first broached the subject with Mark Neeld three weeks ago, and quickly convinced her the allegations were untrue by passing her onto senior indigenous player, Aaron Davey, who insisted he wouldn’t be involved in the football club if the allegations were true.

”Aaron Davey got on the phone and I asked him all the same questions I’d asked Mark Neeld…. And Aaron said: ‘Caroline, it just didn’t happen. It never happened,’” Caroline Wilson said

is someone going to find a horses head in their locker tomorrow?

Of course, but we can't assume we have the correct answer & why?

The Club needs to know, as do the members & all who have contributed through their lives, to have this sort of 'Tail is more Important than the Dog' attitude...

So did Mifsud leak to Caro too? or did Thomo tell Caro who forgot to get back and say it wasn't true?

Just how far do these leaks go

If Demetriou won't sack Mifsud then he must be sacked himself.

Worse is that we likely have a player or players, very likely one or more of the indigenous boys, who is (are) prepared to falsely slur the club because of some perceived gripe. After ALL Jimmy Stynes, Schwab and the rest of them have done for him (them).

Treason of the highest order. Find out who it or they were and chuck 'em out of the club now.

I'm sure I just heard Robbo saying on AFL360, that the rumoured source was a senior indigenous player at the Dees... how many senior indigenous players do we have? The alleged player apparently denies saying any such thing.

Just how far do these leaks go

Clearly Mifsud has been telling quite a few people some untruths....

Matt Rendell should fell very hard done by.

just watching 360 - this is really messy

The MFC should start legal action against Mifsud and Thomas

Anything less than that will be seen as weakness

This is the time to stop the kowtowing to the AFL.

Go after these two in a big way

How on earth is any club going to be able deal with Mifsud.

The MFC should at the very least tell him he is not welcome.

In less polite language [censored] OFF

This is going to get drawn out fellas. Buckle yourself in the Dees are in the news for another week

3AW says the 'leaker' is a former player?

Let's just cool our jets at the moment before we burn anyone at the stake.

Gerard Whately just mentioned that the senior player is Aaron Davey. I wonder if the events of this week will lead to Davey remaining in the team as a show of faith in our indigenous players.

Maybe that's what the [censored] who spread the rumour wants you to believe, because he needs somebody to blame for this fabricated load of garbage.

Caroline Wilson says that Davey, the only senior indigenous player at Melbourne, personally flat out denied this crap. I will believe Caro everyday of the week and twice on Sunday before I listen to Robinson.

We might have a rubbish midfield, we might have a boring game plan, our coach might possibly be planning to murder our players, but we are not a racist club who treats their indigenous players with such disrespect. Move on.

He was crucified

Now, per my above post, do we know that for certain?

Aaron is the one who disputed the claim that meant Wilson didn't report on it - is he playing both sides of the fence? Is he telling the truth?

Let's wait before we wail.

And it is not for winning games

This is a disgraceful situation

The problem I have is does this unamed

source really exist ?

Are we expected to take Misfud at face value ?

I smell a rat

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
