Keep in mind ..there is one law that will dictate outocmes

Holy crap I just got home and read this bloody hell.

Involved in a machete attack according to the Age. http://www.theage.co...0308-1umsq.html

Hope it's not true.

"Involved" can be a very non-descript thing.. For all we know he might have been tryiing to dissuade someone.. but then he would be involved !!

Wouldn't be surprised if he's sacked over this incident.

Neeld, with his elite compliance mantra, won't accept this.

Won't accept what? We no next to nothing about the incident.

Ridiculous thing to say.

Sure if he's guilty of doing something unacceptable, but as yet he has not even been charged.

Stupid comment mate.

All im going to say in a manner is...you cant serve two masters

9 "reported" altercation with up to 50 people, 2 injured with weapons and two 23yr olds in custody. No charges laid at this point.

That's what I've been hoping is the case.

What if he was there trying to resolve tensions between two people who then set out to attack one another?

How about we don't assume he is guilty of horrible crimes before we have any confirmation?

FFS the folks on this site are quick to judge and jump off bandwagons.

This is a disaster - Tribal Law is not recognised in the Constitution......if someone was terribly hurt as a result of revenge or retribution, I'm really starting to panic...

We can't jump into any conclusions, but really, this is very distressing for everyone concered, especially Liam.

And a little bit the guy with the machete wound to the head. Some perspective is due regarding who is really in "distress."

I'm concerned for Liam as everyone is particularly if it's a case of wrong place wrong time. I know I've read things have been pretty bad up there for some time and he undoubtedly feels a responsibility to go up and help. I respect that, though this action, by anyone, is pretty off.

I'll wait for Rudeboy makes a comment before anything else.

Thanks for the input Stuie.

juzzk1d. - the guy who said he shouldn't be paid for it (going home) - I think he was joking - as in - just sending up some

Demonland contributers who overreact to things, demanding all sorts of instant answers, resolutions, sackings etc

Chill.

For all we know he got the machete off the offender when the police arrived and was trying to break it up.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's sacked over this incident.

And I am sure Neeld and the Club wont be jumping to conclusions ahead of the facts like some are doing here.

My comment came before I knew anything about people being seriously hurt.

This entire situation is extremely sad, but reality is, we know nothing about the cultural or tribal issues going on up there, and so we should not get involved or cast accusations.

All I want is for everyone involved to come through unaffected, and for Jurrah to return back to Melbourne.

There's a couple of important things to remember here...

NT Police quite often hold Aboriginals for a time while they sort out the intricacies of the situation. Dealings involving tribal disputes and law are massively complicated which is generally not helped by the lack of trust between tribes and police.

Liam, being a fully initiated warrior and elder is bound by tribal law to get involved or at least try and resolve any family disputes so while instinct says he was not an instigator, he may be classed as an offender by involvement.

It will be interesting to see how the NT court system deals with this as it will give us an insight into how they deal with Australian Law v Tribal Law.

Let hope he's being held to stop anything happening.

I hope Liam isn't involved in any ultra violent act.

no one knows anything. for all we know he was saving someone and is a hero and is held for his own safety.

time will tell

whats liam doing in alice springs?

good question

Thanks for that. My first thought was about how Jurrah's obligations to the tribe but have made him involved. Hopefully there is no direct involvement that would entice a charge in some capacity.

No direct flights to Yuendemu last time I looked.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
