Time to bring back Stef.

Jamar needs a rest.

His second and third efforts alone are worth a recall .

Are you suggesting that perhaps Jamar will reveal a "nagging injury, manifest as general soreness" for the next round?

The selection would be back to the Bailey days.

No accountability, no structure, no discipline, no footy smarts.

Stef has plenty of footy smarts actually. He was instructed to take the game on at all times due to his size and mobility being hard to match up on. So it might have looked like his accountability was low but this was his role.

Saw him last night and he is as excited as a kid in a candy store to be playing again shortly and his body is back to its best. He will be back and about later in the second half of the year.

Fair enough, I'm glad he's better, but he'll need 3-4 weeks (@ Casey) to play an accountable, negating role and realise his role in the team.

He's not a ball carrier, or a designated kicker, or given license to fly for anything.

He needs more discipline.

With Jamar locked in and Gawn/Fitz looking the goods (early stages I know but I have faith) and Clark/Sellar good pinch hitters I wonder if big Stef might be worth something to a club that needs a ruckman, a club say with an ageing big man and a couple of young blokes night quite ready, a club that has a few young but hardened mids we might like...

Collingwood anyone?

You have a lot of faith. Gawn has just had his second major reconstruction and Fitz has shown nothing in my eyes.

If we trade Stef, then we will need to pick up another ruckman in the draft.

Yeah your right, it just seems strange that we have Jamar Martin Gawn Fitz and Spencer. Is that an average amount of ruckman for a club? Seems alot to me

As soon as Martin is ready.

Most clubs have around 5 ruckmen on their lists. Though often 2 or 3 are relatively unknown because they live in the VFL, like most opposition supporters would know little of Spencer, Fitzy and Gawn. Those last three are all still speculative IMO and I don't like Clark or Sellar in the ruck (for different reasons).

Martin had his best season last year, and has been injured this year. I'm interested to see if he can fit in with team balance and Neeld's game style. I think we're lacking a back up to Jamar who can at least compete in the ruck and be useful around the ground and Martin's more likely than anyone in the middle term.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
